Job Overview:

A Restaurant Supervisor is responsible for assisting management in the direction and administration of a restaurant in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability.

As a Restaurant Supervisor, you would be responsible for assisting management in the direction and administration of a restaurant in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability. Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Ensure that guests are greeted upon arrival, and questions or concerns are promptly and courteously resolved.

· Be readily available at all times to deal with problems or complaints.

· Ensure that different front of house areas are serviced and maintained such as the Bar, Lounge and Dining areas.

· Ensure that reservations are taken correctly and courteously.

· Ensure that all charges are correctly entered on the guest's bill and that this is up to date at all times.

· Ensure that credit control procedures are strictly adhered to.

· Ensure that all Front of House staff are dressed appropriately at all times.

· Ensure that all Front of House areas are clean and tidy at all times.

· Ensure that incoming and outgoing telephone calls are handled promptly and courteously.

· Monitor and modify bar pricing and procedures as required. This includes updating the menus and any point-of-sale systems to reflect any changes.

· Carry out systematic checks of all Front of House areas for maintenance requirements, repairs or refurbishing, ensuring that these are completed without delay.

· Carry out or ensure that regular On-the-Job training is taking place to agreed standards.

· Ensure that staffing levels are correct and are not exceeded without permission of the Front of House Manager.

· Ensure that the most suitably qualified person is appointed in the event of a vacancy

· Act as Duty Supervisor when required.

· Attend Management Meetings as required.

· Circulate regularly throughout all Front of House areas, maintaining a positive profile with guests and staff.

· Ensure accurate and timely submission of all reports and administrative work.

· Prepare and submit within the required format all annual budgetary information and updates as required.

· Monitor trends within the industry and make suggestions for the implementation of appropriate programs.

· Help recognize and develop potential key players in the restaurant

· Follow Health, Food Safe and Liquor service guidelines

Qualifications and Requirements:

· 3 years of direct restaurant work experience in a front of house capacity

· Experience in all aspects of customer service and people management

· Demonstrated ability to lead and direct a team

· Strong working knowledge of restaurant industry principles, methods, practices, and techniques

· Ability to supervise employees, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments

· Ability to provide feedback regarding front of house operations, propose new policies, and develop and implement new strategies

· Ability to analyze and interpret the needs of clients and offer the appropriate options, solutions, and resolutions required

· Exceptional conflict resolution, negotiation, and objection handling skills

· Able to respond quickly in a dynamic and changing environment

· Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.

· Good training, coaching, and mentoring skills are essential

· Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with corporate departments, key business partners, and customers

· Knowledge of cost analysis, fiscal management, and budgeting techniques

· Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing

· Ability to coordinate and organize meetings, exhibits, and other events

· High level of proficiency with restaurant POS software packages

Physical Qualification:

· Frequently stands, walks, talks, hears, uses hands to finger, feel or handle. Long hours spent on feet. Occasionally sits, climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crawls or crouches. Sometimes lifts up to 25 pounds and occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds.

· Regularly uses close, distance, color and peripheral vision as well as depth perception. Ability to adjust focus.

· Often works in areas with both hot and cold surfaces, as well as working in wet areas. Often works in areas with moving mechanical parts; may come into contact with fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. Frequently works in hot, indoor conditions. Occasionally works outdoors.
