Title: Small Business Accountant/Bookkeeper Location: 90% Remote, 10% In-Office (Charlottesville, VA) Hourly Rate: $40 - $50/hr, commensurate with experience Status: 1099 contractor, 3 months to start. Expectation to be ongoing if mutually agreed upon Requirement: CPA Our client is a boutique tax and accounting firm founded by three professionals seeking a better work/life balance and committed to providing exceptional client service. They fully utilize their time off during the summer and maintain a more consistent schedule throughout the rest of the year. They are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for multiple clients. Your ability to manage client relationships, handle inquiries, and provide timely financial reporting will be crucial to our clients' satisfaction and our company's success. Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day bookkeeping for multiple clients, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
Communicate directly with clients to gather necessary financial information, resolve inquiries, and provide updates on financial status.
Prepare monthly financial reports for each client, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
Reconcile bank and credit card statements for clients.
Collaborate with clients and internal teams to streamline financial processes and improve efficiency.
Assist with year-end books and tax filings as needed.
Requirements
CPA license required
Proven bookkeeping experience (minimum 3 years) with a focus on managing multiple clients.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
Experience (minimum 2 years) using QuickBooks Online.
Ability to manage client relationships effectively and professionally.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain financial concepts to clients.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple client accounts.
Proficiency in MS Office suite, especially Excel.
Tax preparation experience a plus but not required.
