The National Endowment for Democracy is Hiring a 2460 - Program Coordinator, Government Relations (GR) Near Washington, DC

The National Endowment for Democracy (NED) is a 501(c)3 grantmaking foundation that receives an annual Congressional appropriation of over $310 million and is governed by a private, bipartisan Board of Directors. This unusual arrangement positions NED to play a unique role as America's leading foundation for freedom, empowering the institution to be nimble, innovative, and risk-taking in support of democratic activists, civil society organizations, independent media, and the NED family core institutes (the International Republican Institute, the National Democratic Institute, the Center for International Private Enterprise, and the Solidarity Center).
We seek a Program Coordinator, Government Relations to help strengthen the impact of our work and mission. Position Summary:
The Program Coordinator, Government Relations will work under the direction of the Vice President and the Director, of Government Relations to educate and inform the Congress about the work of the NED; provide support for NED board meetings and relations with the NED Board of Directors; and support the Government Relations team with all other functions as may be necessary.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist with outreach to Capitol Hill, including coordinating and staffing meetings with Hill staff and Members of Congress and preparing for and attending special events and briefings on the Hill.
  • Assist in preparing external outreach materials (ex. One-pagers, slide decks, etc.)
  • Prepare for quarterly board meetings and assist with the management of NED Board relations.
  • Recruit and manage interns.
  • Support the Penn Kemble Forum on Democracy program
  • Manage internal administrative, financial, and budgetary compliance for the GR team.
  • Assist VP for GR with special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Other responsibilities and projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in International Affairs, Political Science, International Development, or a related discipline;
  • 0 - 2 years of experience;
  • Previous work experience in a similar field and Capitol Hill experience are both strongly preferred;
  • Strong interest in democracy promotion and a desire to gain experience in the international non-profit sector;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks;
  • A high degree of organization and initiative;
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
This position is part of the NED Bargaining Unit.

Located in Washington, D.C., the salary range for this role is $45,500 - USD 60,625 , plus benefits. The final offer for a successful candidate will be determined by a combination of factors, including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, education, and market considerations.
