Project Manager
Job Type: Full Time Position
The National Reentry Network for Returning Citizens (NRNRC) is a non-profit organization based in Washington, D.C that works to support returning citizens in their transition out of incarceration. The NRNRC also works to shape DC policy regarding both returning citizens and those still incarcerated. The organization has advocated for a variety of legislative changes such as decriminalizing fare evasion, restoring the vote to those incarcerated with a felony conviction, and the Revised D.C Criminal Code. The NRNRC's in-house programs include the Ready4Work Program, Community-Led Preventive Model (CLPM), Build Wealth DC, and Advocacy and Workers Rights Training.
The Project Manager will be responsible for programmatic duties for the above-mentioned programming. The Project Manager is responsible for developing relationships between the NRNRC and the larger community, focusing heavily on developing relationships with returning citizens. They will deliver communications about the organization to the public, media, community stakeholders, and political representatives. The Project Manager will utilize their influence in supporting returning citizens, pushing for criminal legal system reform, and expanding organization membership. They will be responsible for our community engagement and advocacy efforts. This will include door-knocking, community outreach, and volunteer efforts, as well as marketing, community education, and feedback efforts.
GENERAL JOB FUNCTIONS
➢ Recruit returning citizens to participate in the Community-Led Preventative Model Program (CLPM)
➢ Create and deliver advocacy training to communities centered around the CLPM
➢ Create and deliver a 16-hour advocacy and community engagement training for NRNRC staff, returning citizens, and community members
➢ Educate the public about issues those involved in the criminal legal system face
➢ Recruiting and organizing volunteers to assist in grassroots advocacy efforts
➢ Oversee our door-knocking and canvassing efforts throughout the community, aiming to increase awareness of the NRNRC
➢ Create and distribute survey/ballot questions for the community to respond to and give feedback on issues facing them
➢ Create a coalition of community members to advance the mission of the NRNRC
➢ Utilize understanding of the larger community in building relationships
➢ Focus on reaching business leaders and community stakeholders that can influence policy, support fundraising initiatives, provide resources and opportunities to returning citizens
➢ Create and deliver communications related to the CLPM and the NRNRC’s programs and events
➢ Create and distribute marketing materials advancing the mission of the CLPM program and the NRNRC
➢ Assisting in drafting legislation and generating recommendations for the D.C Council on behalf of the NRNRC as a part of Safe and Free D.C.
➢ Provide Administrative Support, as needed

➢ Passion for supporting returning citizens and criminal legal system reform
➢ Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
➢ Reliable and organized professional able to work under pressure to make required deadlines for assignments
➢ Ability to communicate and build relationships with a variety of different types of people
➢ Ability to take and utilize constructive feedback for growth
➢ 1-2 years’ experience in grassroots organizing preferred
➢Bachelors/Masters degree in a relevant field preferred
