The Neighborhood Center is Hiring a Food Services Coordinator Near Utica, NY

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Food Services Coordinator supervises and assumes responsibility for all aspects of the Food Services department under the direction of the Director or Child and Family Services. H/She/They coordinates with the Child Care Administrator, Site or Program Directors in meal planning, preparation, logistics and service to maximize the nutritional quality of meals and to maintain a positive environment.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Plan, with appropriate personnel, menus that meet the nutritional requirements of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) as well as the needs of the children we serve.
  • Participate in the all phases of the food services processes including the preparation, cooking and serving of meals.
  • Maintain an environment that is safe, healthy, orderly and attractive.
  • Ensure that the agency meets the requirements of all Food Services regulatory bodies.
  • Oversee the ordering of all food in a timely manner and in sufficient quantity.
  • Cross reference purchase orders and delivery slips and oversee the storage process.
  • Conduct food products inventory at least bi-weekly.
  • Assist appropriate personnel in assessing and requesting the need for Food Services supplies, materials, equipment and repairs.
  • Knowledge of all CACFP nutrition requirements, record keeping and regulations and comply fully with all accompanying mandates. Maintain files for the current October – September fiscal year plus at least three prior years with all materials required by CACFP for possible audit.
  • Perform all staff supervisory functions for the Food Services department including approval of scheduled time off, approval of timesheets, evaluations and ensuring appropriate training is provided.
  • Attend/conduct meetings as required/assigned.
  • Plan for and prepare food for visiting groups and special events as requested.
  • Perform other related tasks as required/assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Present a professional appearance in keeping with the position.
  • Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility of each employee. Employees are expected to report to work as scheduled, on time and prepared to start working.
  • Must have the ability to meet the physical demands representative of the industry such as stand, lift, bend, squat, kneel, reach and work in a high temperature environment.

  • Must have three (3) years experience in Food Services field including cooking and food preparation and one (1) year staff supervisory experience.
  • An Associate’s Degree in Nutrition or Food Services or closely related field or the equivalent in training and experience.
