The New School is seeking a 21-hour a week counselor to provide counseling and support services to both graduate and undergraduate degree seeking students. We are seeking candidates who are highly skilled clinicians who have experience working with students with diverse identities and experience with clinical supervision. This position reports directly to the Director of Counseling.
This position is part of the Student Health Employees at the New School (SHENS-UAW) Union. The terms and conditions of employment for this position are covered by a collective bargaining agreement between the New School and SHENS-UAW.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide crisis intervention, and short-term individual and group therapy to university students including mental health assessments, information and referrals.
• Work with students in crisis and those with trauma histories, including racialized and other trauma related to identity.
• Supervise PhD externs and MSW interns.
• Available for collateral contacts including hospitals, community providers, faculty and staff, as appropriate.
• Collaborate and maintain open communication with interdisciplinary staff of Student Health Services including psychiatry and medical providers.
• Participate actively in staff meetings and in weekly supervision.
• Maintain timely, appropriate and accurate records and correspondence related to students served.
• Attend workshops, training seminars and university meetings as appropriate.
• Assist with wellness outreach; provide training to students, staff, and faculty across the university.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• PhD/PsyD in clinical or counseling psychology or LCSW or PhD in social work.
• Current licensure to practice in New York State.
• Clinical supervision experience.
• Some evening hours required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Post-graduate experience in young adult or college mental health.

WORK MODE

• Hybrid/Split - Employees hired for this position have regularly scheduled, consistent percentage of time on campus (ex 1-4x/week) and also work some of the time remotely. #LI-HYBRID

HOURLY RATE
$52 per hour
