The Research Assistant will be a fundraising researcher for a documentary on beauty and its toxic tropes. The goal of the film is not to "solve" beauty but to investigate all the negotiations that human beings need to have in order to be liked.
In our documentary, we would like to investigate the meaning behind the cultural relevance of beauty as one of the most primitive, and powerful, cues to regulate human interactions. Beauty can define layers of meaning, but it has seldom been investigated as a source of meaning and purpose.
The RA will research all sources of funding for feature films (the documentary will be partly scripted), documentaries and academic research revolving around these themes. The final deliverable will be a list of all sources of funding, draft applications (grant writing background a plus) and a spreadsheet tracking the progress of all fundraising efforts, including festivals and streamers. A background in film, media studies or fundraising is a plus.
