The Nord Center is Hiring a Mental Health Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist Near Lorain, OH
Pay Range: ($15.00 - $18.28 per hour) ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Works individually with clients on coping skills, self-advocacy, entitlements, housing issues and activities of daily living
Provide support and problem solving assistance to clients with severe and persistent mental illness in a variety of settings
Support and reinforce following clients Individual Service Plan
Act as liaison and advocates between consumers and program management
Completes all necessary documentation to service delivery.
Performs related administrative duties.
Attends required staff meetings.
Reacts to change and stress productively.
Maintains regular and predictable attendance and punctuality.
Gets along with others and works as a team.
Exhibits the knowledge, skills, abilities, and minimum requirements listed in this Position Description.
Maintains certification as a Peer Recovery Supporter in the State of Ohio.
Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Utilize knowledge of mental health through personally lived experience and recovery/training to assist consumers with defining their recovery goals, and developing the skills and knowledge needed for the consumer's recovery.
Basic computer skills are a plus.
In order to perform the essential functions of this job, after an orientation period, the employee must possess the following: a working knowledge of Nord Center Policy and Procedures, including sensitivity and adherence to clients' rights, confidentiality, and health and safety issues. Must exhibit a sensitivity to different cultures. Bilingual (English/Spanish speaking) is a plus.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The work is provided in a variety of venues and locations including in the office, in client homes, out in various community locations and businesses. Because of the variety of environments and physical conditions that will be encountered, this individual must be able to successfully interact and navigate in all types of facilities and weather conditions. This includes being able to walk, climb stairs, navigate changing surface conditions including wet, slippery, and icy grounds, and function in the proximity of electrical appliances, open flames and in areas with poor air quality including potentially smoke-filled rooms.
This individual may periodically be required to lift and/or carry up to 10 pounds.
The individual in this position must be able to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
Due to the extensive computer work this individual must be able to sit for extended periods of time and operate required equipment
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma/GED is required.
Must have knowledge of mental health/substance abuse through personally lived experience and recovery
Demonstrated understanding of the principles of recovery and resiliency.
Certified as a Peer Recovery Supporter in the State of Ohio is required.
Reliable personal transportation, with a current valid and non-restricted Ohio Driver's License with less than six points and State-required insurance.
