The Editorial Associate is responsible for writing and copy editing a variety of publications for the college. The Editorial Associate will ideate, produce and edit publications and written college promotional materials as assigned. They are responsible for identifying engaging stories and stakeholders, writing high-quality articles and following AP Style guidelines. All written pieces must be produced in brand voice with clear, concise and compelling language by stated deadlines.
In addition to writing, the Editorial Associate will be included in publication strategy sessions to identify audience and engagement opportunities. They may be responsible for the full vision of publications, including the visual representation, and will make suggestions for visual assets and design as applicable. The Editorial Associate must have a willingness to learn and perform the coordination of all stages of publication production, including copy preparation, layout, design, photography and printing, and therefore serve as a liaison with authors, reviewers, editors, designers and other contributors.
The Editorial Associate will also assist with communications strategy and writing standards, helping to train stakeholders to implement standards across college communications including internal and external newsletters, public relations materials, programs, event promotions, etc. Additional opportunities for communication creation, disbursement and promotion exist depending on their knowledge and appetite for development opportunities.

Hourly Rate of Pay: $20.02 - $26.33Position requires frequent travel to the OSU main campus in Columbus, Ohio. Minimum Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. 0 years of relevant experience required.
Desired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in journalism with 2 years of experience writing and editing in higher education, public and/or nonprofit organization publications. Experience stewarding essential college relationships with donors, alumni, faculty and strategic partners. Expertise in AP formatting, management of magazine production including story ideation, interviewing, writing and editing, as well as overseeing design and promotion. Knowledge of Drupal and Mailchimp platforms.
