Job TitleExecutive Director, Divided Community Project

The Executive Director of the Divided Community Project (“the Project”) works with the Project’s Executive Committee to develop, oversee, and execute the Project’s work. Duties include supervising the Project’s Deputy Director, Bridge Initiative coordinator, Project Fellow, and others; develops and implements programs and budgets; supervises law student research assistants; teaches law-related courses in Moritz law school curriculum; represents the Project publicly.
Major Responsibilities Include
  • Develop and implement strategic plans that meet goals and objectives created in partnership with the Project’s Executive Committee and Steering Committee
  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with the leadership of the Moritz College of Law, the Program on Dispute Resolution and key stakeholders, and within the College of Law, the university and the broader community.
  • Supervise Project’s Bridge Initiative’s response to requests for direct service assistance from community leaders, including prioritizing/organizing personnel teams and resource commitments.
  • Supervise, sustain, and expand Project education initiatives for community, government, and college/university leadership teams, e.g., via multi-day “national academies,” workshops, simulations and related programming delivery mechanisms.
  • Recruit, develop, sustain and expand regularly scheduled group conversations and analyses with a diverse national community of “thought leader” stakeholders comprised of governmental officials, advocates for civil rights and underrepresented interests, faith groups, scholars, business leaders, bar association leaders, and dispute resolution professionals.
  • Supervise the editing/writing/website project materials
  • Develop and supervise Project’s communication strategies.
  • Coordinate initiatives and collaboration and partnerships with other organizations with complementary goals
  • Collaborate with the Project’s pilot city leaders and municipal/community local leadership team personnel who participated in national academies.
  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with existing foundation supporters, and develop and secure private and public sector funding to sustain all Program operations.
Required Qualifications: Juris Doctor (JD) degree is required and license to practice law in Ohio; 8 years directing, including supervisory personnel experience, national programs focused on providing multiple dispute resolution-informed services, resources and publications to municipal government leaders, community stakeholders, business leaders, or educational communities; demonstrated aptitude for verbal and written communication, presentation, and relationship development.
Desired Qualifications: Prior experience working in a leadership position on the Divided Community Project (DCP) at OSU is desired.
