The Catering Assistant supports the University Catering operation. They can be assigned to events at the Ohio Union or a large variety of locations on campus serving students, staff, and guests of The Ohio State University. They execute everything from small casual events of 15 people, buffet meals for 150 to upscale served meals with China service for 700. Their duties include greeting and serving customers, making coffee, tea, and non-carbonated beverages, setting up and striking all event equipment, packing for future events, maintaining the integrity of the equipment, as well as following guidelines based on established policies and procedures under the direction of the supervisor. This is a temporary staff position that is not to exceed 12 months.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least one year of experience in customer service, preferably in a food service environment
- 2-4 years of front-line customer service experience
- One year of experience taking and filling food orders
- One year of experience in serving or catering
