Job TitleSr. Sponsored Project Specialist

Serves as the lead grant administrator for the EHE Office of Research (OR) by directing all pre award and post award grants administration efforts. Coordinates activities to ensure smooth transition from submission of proposals to the implementation and management of funded projects. Controls and oversees fiscal management of all grants. Provides expertise in the navigation of OSU processes for submitting multiple types of grants, such as NIH, NSF, USDA, IES, state, industry and foundations. Acts pro actively to inform and creatively communicate to faculty and research staff in identifying research, scholarship, and program funding opportunities (individual and collaborative). Researches, collects and compiles information to prepare proposals and budgets which meet department, college, university, and agency requirements. Assists with complex proposals or budgetary projects and participates in grant proposals preparation for large program projects. Collaborates with staff in the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) to coordinate all aspects of grant submission. Manages ePA-005 process and facilitates proposal submissions with EHE-assigned sponsored program officer (SPO). Manages, organizes, and follows up with Principal Investigators to revise and resubmit unfunded. Monitors personnel appointments and project expenditures; assists in interpreting and applying sponsor regulations; establishes and maintains open communication lines and productive working relationships with researchers, human resource professionals (HRPs) and fiscal personnel across the college and the Office of Sponsored Programs. Creates programming that supports continuing professional development of faculty, research staff, and students. Contributes to the development of in-house publications, such as annual reports, newsletters, and communication plans.
45% Leads the EHE Office of Research comprehensive pre award grants support services. Assists faculty and research staff in identifying research, scholarship, program funding opportunities both individual and collaborative and communicates these opportunities with appropriate PIs. Reviews and understands grant mechanisms and provides guidance to faculty and research staff; assembles and creates relevant materials such as budget justification, biosketches, facilities descriptions, etc. Assists faculty and research staff to ensure that all required components of applications are completed. Reviews proposal materials to assure that the budget and what is described in the proposal align. Ensures high quality proposals are created. Assists with complex proposals or budgetary projects and participates in grant proposals preparation for large program projects. Collaborates with staff in the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) to coordinate all aspects of grant submission. Works with the research office on complex projects and keeps them informed of compliance or other significant issues and will provide guidance and support when needed. Manages ePA-005 process and facilitates proposal submissions with EHE-assigned sponsored program officer (SPO). Manages, organizes, and follows up with Principal Investigators to revise and resubmit unfunded proposals.
45% Leads the EHE Office of Research post-award support services. Advises PIs on project administration; requests preliminary project numbers as needed and tracks projects in a preliminary status; facilitates initial personnel appointment requests; monitors and analyzes project financials; re-budgets as needed over life of the project; arranges for subawards and consultant agreements; interprets award terms and sponsor guidelines; advises PIs and staff on allowable costs and budget latitude; assists faculty with submission of progress reports. Oversees personnel appointments on projects; ensures that faculty, staff and students are appointed to projects; monitors personnel effort on projects; reviews faculty release time and off duty pay; oversees PAAs as needed to ensure personnel effort are properly charged to projects; facilitates effort certification process. Monitors personnel appointments and project expenditures; assists in interpreting and applying sponsor regulations.
