Food & Beverage Manager Bakersfield, California - Full Time The Padre Hotel is looking to immediately hire a qualified, enthusiastic, full time Food and Beverage Manager. Located in the bustling Downtown Arts District, Bakersfields Historic Padre is a sophisticated boutique hotel with a fine dining restaurant, a hip lounge, nostalgically happening bar, and beautifully appointed environment for our guests. We are looking for world-class employees who go the extra mile and create the atmosphere that keeps our guests coming back time and time again.

**Position Summary:**

The Food and Beverage Manager is responsible for the overall operation of all restaurant locations. Key responsibility areas include: team performance, increased sales and profitability, effective cost controls and development as well as training and retention of employees. This position will have an additional focus in improving customer relations and service standards.

**Position Qualifications:**

* 1 - 2 years of management experience required. A background in hospitality/F&B operations is preferred.

* Ability to read, write and speak the English language fluently to interact with customers, the public and employees.

* Good verbal communication skills.

* Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods.

* Interpersonal skills to provide overall customer satisfaction.

* Must have extensive knowledge of food and beverage etiquette, customer relations and service standards.

* Knowledge of food recipes.

* Knowledge of proper food handling requirements.

* Basic mathematical skills to complete reports and working knowledge of financial statements and forecasting/budgeting techniques.

* Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.

* Must have knowledge and proficiency with current point of sale system, cash handling reports and bank deposits

* Ability to analyze customer needs and negotiate pricing.

* Knowledge of all required legal documents, i.e., A.B.C., Health Dept., Police, City, etc.

* Flexible schedule ****Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the company****

**Example of Duties (this is a sampling and not an all-inclusive list):**

* Monitor the financial obligations of each F&B area to ensure all service standards are executed consistently and product offerings are according to set specifications.

* Ensure communication between all other event spaces and restaurants is accurate and effective

* Hire, train, supervise, develop, discipline and counsel all hourly F&B team members according to The Padre Hotels policies and procedures.

* Ensure all legal and compliance objectives are met in accordance with Human Resources policies and procedures.

* Ensure all employee disciplinary documentation is done fairly and consistently.

* Assist the management staff in resolving all procedural and hospitality challenges.

* Ensure service and product training within each department is on-going.

* General maintenance and cleanliness throughout all Company restaurants is expected to be executed with consistency.

* Implement effective controls of food, beverage and labor costs among all sub-departments, in addition to maintaining all expenditures within budget; Develop initiatives to build sales, profitability and guest counts.

* Expediently and effectively respond to customer inquiries/comments.

* Ensure compliance with all Padre Hotel policies and procedures that relate to food and beverage, as well as local, state and federal laws and regulations.

* Develop short and long term financial operating plans.

* Coordinate daily with Sales and Catering to assist in meeting objectives and budgets.

* Oversee cost of goods

* Interview/meet with all restaurant applicants before offering a position.

* Demonstrate positive leadership characteristics to inspire team members to meet and exceed standards.

* All other duties as assigned by General Manager and Food & Beverage Director.
