IT Network System Analyst

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Network System Analyst must satisfy the following minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred; and five years of experience developing and implementing networking projects and modern technology implementations; VMWare, Microsoft Active Directory, Cisco networking, and Windows server experience preferred.

SUMMARY

The Network System Analyst designs builds, and implements network systems across the enterprise. The roles of this position include planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all local and wide area network connections, corporate servers, associated software, and communication links. This position troubleshoots network performance issues, analyzes network traffic, and provides capacity planning solutions. This position diagnoses, resolves, and documents hardware and software network problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provides end-user training and support where required in accordance with the mission, core values, and purposes of our client.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The Network System Analyst performs the following essential functions:

• Configures and troubleshoots servers, including e-mail, print, file and backup servers and their associated operating
• systems and software.
• Plans and implements any improvement, modification, or replacement of network infrastructure components.
• Conducts research on network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.
• Identifies and remedies network performance bottlenecks.
• Interacts and negotiates with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services.
• Assist the IT Manager is the development and implementation of IT policies, procedures, and associated training for network resource administration, security best practices, appropriate use, and disaster recovery.
• Creates/updates/maintains documentation of network and servers.
• Ensures network and IP connectivity of all workstations, application servers, and back-end office infrastructure.
• Manage and ensure effectiveness of security solutions, including firewalls, anti-virus solutions, and intrusion detection systems. Performs necessary security checks on the network.
• Serves as a "backup" for other team members, seek cross-training in their areas of expertise, and perform their duties in their absence.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED WORK HOURS

A minimum of forty hours per week, plus other after-hours as may be necessary to complete job duties. A combination of day, evening, and weekend hours is required. Must be able to periodically take weekend call duties.

REPORTING AND SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Network System Analyst reports to the IT Manager. This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The Network System Analyst must be able to speak, hear, see, read, write, type, dial, reach, and bend. This position also requires the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 40 pounds.

TRAVEL

Periodic travel, including airline travel and overnight stays, may be required.
