Position Summary

The Pingry School’s Office of Institutional Advancement is responsible for the outreach to the school’s internal and external constituencies. Through community outreach and relationship building, the department motivates Pingry’s constituencies and the community at large to support the school financially. By obtaining the financial resources required by The Pingry School to carry out its educational objectives, the department plays a vital role in contributing to the overall education and personal development of Pingry students and maintaining Pingry’s place as an outstanding educational institution.

The Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement, reporting to the Director of Development, is responsible for designing and executing engagement strategies for Pingry alumni, with particular emphasis on graduates from 2004 to the present. The Assistant Director supports the Director of Development in achieving and tracking the overarching goals and objectives for Pingry’s alumni engagement program. The person in this position manages relationships to build a dynamic alumni volunteer network and works collaboratively with fundraising colleagues to ensure that alumni engagement and advancement goals are aligned.

Responsibilities

  • Design and execute engagement strategies for Pingry alumni (from 2005 onward).
  • Manage the 5th—20th Reunions annually, which includes, but isn’t limited to, volunteer recruitment, training, and management; fundraising toward dollars raised and participation goals; communications; and event planning.
  • Work closely with the Assistant Director of Alumni Annual Giving to identify and recruit volunteers and build alumni giving participation.
  • Visit 3-5 college campuses per year, host receptions for college alumni, and grow alumni participation, emphasizing college and young alumni engagement.
  • Create and distribute the alumni newsletter to keep alumni informed about news, events, and opportunities related to the organization.
  • Manage and create content for Pingry’s alumni social media channels, including digital and written content.
  • Event management related to Reunion, Homecoming, alumni athletic events, regional programming, and various alumni events.
  • Gather news, update contact information, and collect class notes from young alumni
  • Identify "rising star," young alumni prospects for mentoring relationships, networking, career panels, and leadership volunteer opportunities.
  • Support the work and initiatives of the Pingry Alumni Association.
  • Engage current student ambassadors in alumni programming.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
  • Two years of related experience (e.g., fundraising, sales, management, finance, etc.) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of The Pingry School, with a passion for education and alumni engagement.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience in writing for various platforms such as newsletters, social media, and website content.
  • Demonstrated experience in event planning and execution, particularly in managing alumni events and reunions.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse constituencies, including alumni, volunteers, donors, and colleagues.
  • Good judgment, tact, and discretion are required to deal with highly confidential information.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability with computer software programs including but not limited to Google Docs and Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word. Knowledge of Veracross preferred.
  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed for events and meetings.
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to work occasional nights and weekends.
