JOB SUMMARY

Collect, test and analyze geological samples before, during, and after processing to determine physical and chemical properties to ensure that products meet quality standards.

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Analyze and interpret daily samples from mining, plant or drilling to determine suitability for use.
• Perform plant loss studies.
• Accurately prepare samples without contamination.
• Communicate test results with Quality Supervisor and plant operators. Electronically document results in quality system.
• Operate Lo-Iron Sand sample room to include sand leaching process.
• Must be able to read and operate Flowsorb and Sedigraph machines.
• Prepare and perform wet chemistry analysis.
• Prepare core samples for testing.
• Perform flotation samples per established sampling method.
• Generate Certificate of Analysis and shipping pre-shipment examples.
• Perform non-routine analysis.

SKILLS

• Communication skills required to coordinate results and production process adjustments to operators.
• Reading and writing required to perform tests and document results.
• Working knowledge of excel and word required to document results.
• Strong background in minerals processing, especially flotation, required for interpreting results and addressing noncompliance with specifications.
• Must be capable of performing duties with minimal supervision.
• Must be detail oriented.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• High School Diploma or GED required. Some college preferred.
• At least one year lab and testing experience required.
