The Renaissance Network, Inc. is Hiring a Director of Housing #3752 Near Boston, MA

Are you ready to lead a passionate and committed housing team for one of Boston's most respected and impactful nonprofit organizations?

St. Francis House (SFH) rebuilds lives by providing refuge and pathways to stability for adults experiencing homelessness and poverty. They deliver a continuum of comprehensive programs and services to formerly homeless tenants who are housed in both site-based and scattered-site units.

SFH seeks a Director of Housing to oversee all aspects of programs and operations to ensure tenants remain successfully housed and achieve overall stability with their behavioral health, income, and day to day living. This role manages all strategic, administrative, daily operations, and tenant-related services offered.

As an integral member of leadership team, the Director of Housing is responsible for setting the tone of SFH's overall mission, philosophy of care, and theory of change, ensuring that services are inclusive, client-centered and provide excellent quality of care.

Major Responsibilities

  • Oversight of department and staff, including the Associate Director of Housing and other program leaders; provide consistent supervision and ongoing support to direct reports
  • Work closely with internal and external partners to ensure program services meet all contract requirements and adhere to best practices including harm reduction and Housing First principles
  • Develop and implement programmatic standards, policies and procedures, and benchmarks of success for all housing and stabilization services
  • Collaborate closely with leadership on the strategic planning and vision of the Housing & Stabilization Services Department, including the on-going development, expansion, and improvement of services
  • Responsible for identifying and responding to new public funding opportunities for supportive housing
  • Serve as SFH's primary point of contact for any housing-related contract compliance and renewals, and develop a quality assurance plan for all housing and stabilization programs
  • Responsible for understanding and ensuring compliance with Boston's Continuum of Care policies and procedures
  • Create and provide oversight of housing and stabilization services budget
  • Establish and track goals and targets for the department that support outcomes identified in the SFH theory of change; implement consistent reporting and tracking systems to ensure program quality and to identify areas of strength and those where growth is needed

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of and firm commitment to the Housing First Model
  • Ability to ensure the smooth operation of multiple housing programs where the goal is to keep people in housing and make tenancies work wherever possible
  • Proven ability to provide high-quality supervision and staff support
  • Strong contract management experience-attending to reporting processes/details and maintaining accountability to overall deliverables and goals; experience in and proven champion of the use of data in measuring program success and driving towards outcomes
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills in addition to strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lead and perform well in a fast-paced and stressful environment
  • Basic understanding of and commitment to taking a person-centered, recovery-oriented, and trauma-informed approach
  • Content knowledge in the field of affordable housing, including federal (HUD) or state (EOHLC) guidelines for supportive housing, subsidized housing, and housing-based supportive services for formerly homeless individuals
  • 5 years of administrative management and supervisory experience required; affordable housing program management experience preferred
  • Masters in Social Work or Counseling with clinical licensure required
  • Live within commuting distance of SFH's downtown Boston location; possess reliable transportation/driver's license for occasional field visits

Since 1984, St. Francis House's programs have served those experiencing homelessness and poverty. They offer a comprehensive array of services, all available under one roof, available 365 days of the year. SFH transforms lives using a holistic approach to understand and address behavioral health, housing, and employment needs.

The St. Francis House Philosophy of Care is committed to providing trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, and person-centered care. It guides everything SFH does - how they work with guests and how they work together as an entire agency and community. Each staff person is expected to learn, understand, and apply these principles in their everyday work.
