The Rescue Mission Alliance of Syracuse N Y is Hiring a Now Open - Garcia House Youth Care Specialist (Shift Differential) Near Syracuse, NY

The Rescue Mission has opened our Runaway and Homeless Youth Shelter also known as the Garcia House!
The Rescue Mission is proud to share that we are seeking Youth Care Specialists to work 2nd shift (2:30pm - 11pm) at the Garcia House. The Youth Care Specialist is an integral position for the well-being of the clients and overall function of the house. The position maintains a safe and supportive environment for clients, utilizing the resources of the Rescue Mission to ensure a healthy and pleasant stay and provide an environment of positive change for all clients served.
Duties & Responsibilities
Engage with youth as a safe adult, role model and consistent support.
Participates as a team player to provide consistent and reliable care for the youth staying in shelter.
Shares pertinent client information via documentation, participation in meetings, and on an individual basis as needed, maintaining confidentiality as appropriate.
Supports the Rescue Mission by operating within their Vision, Mission Statement and Core Values, promoting the Rescue Mission both at and outside of work and familiarizing yourself and complying with all Rescue Mission policies and procedures.
Uses Positive Youth Development framework, supports youth in skills necessary to reunify with family, while also improving Independent Living Skills.
Model and encourage healthy and safe interactions for youth, utilize a Restorative Justice framework to address conflicts.
Promote a safety-first attitude while using the Harm Reduction framework to support youth in improving their long-term ability to keep themselves safe.
Regular and predictable in-person attendance is an essential requirement of the job
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Associate degree in human services or related field, or equivalent work experience preferred.
Experience working with adolescents, the homeless, addicted and/or mentally ill populations preferred.
Must be approved through the Office of Children & Family Services (OCFS) to work at this facility.
Valid NYS Driver’s License in compliance with company policy is preferred.
Pay:
$16/hr.
