Communications Specialist


Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):

Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Three (3) years of full-time experience as a writer. Experience producing leadership communications and internal organizational communications. Experience with Microsoft and/or Google applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Experience working in higher education. Experience with Associated Press style and/or PowerPoint experience. Experience coordinating projects, meetings and events.
Brief Description of Duties:
Reporting to the Chief of Staff, the incumbent will utilize excellent writing and editing skills to amplify the accomplishments of the Advancement organization, share the vision of the Vice President for Advancement, and expand internal communications throughout the team. The position requires a thoughtful approach to communications planning and execution across platforms, research skills and the ability to handle confidential information with good judgment and discretion. Excellent writing, editing and communication skills are essential, as well as creative thinking and problem-solving skills. The incumbent will need to manage multiple projects, coordinate meetings and plan internal events. The Communications Specialist needs to work independently with minimal supervision.
Duties:
  • Manage communications for the executive team, including ghost writing for vice president for advancement and other executive team members. Oversee internal strategic communications throughout Advancement and support the goals of the vice president and executive team.
  • Plan and develop content for internal meetings and events and help to drive culture-building activities throughout the organization.
  • Provide general operational and communications support for the chief of staff and other members of the executive team as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
