The Resort at Glade Springs is Hiring a Golf Course Starter Near Daniels, WV

Morning availability needed. Schedule will include 7am- 3pm Thursday - Saturday.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The starter helps control the golfer’s pace of play by directing players to the first tee in a timely and orderly fashion.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Include the following, but other duties may be assigned.

  • Greet and welcome all members and guests.
  • Verify that all revenues have been properly recorded by inspecting receipts for all players before they depart for course or practice facility.
  • Give guests miscellaneous information that may help them in playing the course (i.e. yardage markers on sprinkler heads are measured to the middle of the green).
  • Provide cart rules and golf course conditions of the day to all golfers (i.e., golf carts on paths only).
  • Communicate emergency and safety information to members and guests in a calm, clear and professional manner.
  • Explain clubs pace of play policy, and answer any questions the golfers may have in a clear and professional manner.
  • Start all golfers off at their scheduled tee time (record the start times and cart numbers).
  • Communicate with on-course player assistants/ranger about any changes that may occur in order to regulate the desired pace of play. Alert them to the potential for slow play immediately.
  • Stay in communication with the golf shop regarding any changes in the scheduled groups or possible delays, or a change in weather conditions.
  • Coordinate on-course activities of starter/player assistant crew (i.e. hole location of proximity markers, signs, or any special requests from outings.
  • Review and maintain time sheet to anticipate play and monitor turn times.
  • Constantly keep the Golf Shop staff informed on the speed of play.
  • Maintain clean, orderly appearance of the starter’s Booth at all times. Clean and lock the facility each evening (where applicable).
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Attend scheduled training seminars and department meetings.
  • Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
  • Keeps immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance and takes prompt corrective action where necessary or suggests alternative courses of action which may be taken.
  • Maintains a favorable working relationship with all other company associates and purveyors to promote a cooperative and harmonious working climate, which will be conducive to maximum employee morale, productivity, efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and effective manner in accordance with established company policies to achieve the overall objectives of the position.
  • Maintains a professional standard at Glade Springs to include but not limited to: appearance, verbal discussions, written correspondence and interactions with members, associates and guests
  • Does not discuss confidential items with fellow associates or work related issues with members or guests.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Director of Golf.
