Richstone Family Center (RFC) is dedicated to preventing and treating child abuse and trauma; strengthening and educating families; and decreasing violence in families, schools and communities. Since 1974, RFC has established itself to provide comprehensive services that include: trauma focused treatment and therapy, crisis intervention, group support facilitation, parenting and anger management classes, home visits, psycho-educational and self-esteem building workshops, and youth academic support programs.

We are actively seeking a part-time custodian to play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness, order, and functionality of Richstone Family Center’s campus. This position is responsible for ensuring that all facilities are consistently clean, sanitized, and safe for employees, clients, and visitors. In addition to these duties, custodians will be expected to assist in event setup, manage waste, and maintain stocked supplies. The impact of this role directly contributes to the overall efficiency and positive image of Richstone Family Center.

Job Duties

• Daily cleaning (vacuum, dump trash, dust, clean hard surfaces) of Richstone facility to include: offices, common areas, and work areas such as furnishings, restrooms,, fixtures, walls, and floors to ensure they meet health and safety standards and present a professional appearance;
• Follow all established safety procedures
• Opens and closes buildings and offices; secure all Richstone campus doors (indoor and outdoor)
• Empty trash and recycle containers; disinfect and clean trash and recycle containers; replace liner in trash and recycle containers; take all collected trash and recycle to outside dumpsters
• Sweep, dust, remove scuffs, scrub, mop and clean floors including stairs, kitchen, outer perimeter of campus, parking lot, and outside sitting area; vacuum rugs and carpet
• Dust and/or wash walls,light fixtures, windows, blinds, furniture and other campus equipment
• Strip, seal, wax, and refinish floors and woodwork of various types; shampoo, scrub, and extract carpeted areas and other fixtures
• Disinfect, sanitize, clean restrooms, and replace supplies as needed;
• Assist in moving and arranging furniture and equipment, and setting up areas for special events and meetings;
• Report all health and safety hazards, presence of animals, vermin, or insects, and building repairs to the Vice President of Finance and Operations
• Makes repairs such as replacing lights, basic plumbing, and repairing furniture;
• Paints offices and furniture as needed;
• Periodically participates in deep cleaning of Richstone’s main facility (stripping and waxing floors, painting, replacing furniture and fixtures that need to be discarded);
• Conducts routine inspections during and after completing work;
• Contact vendors as required;
• Load/unload and distribute deliveries;
• Must maintain appropriate boundaries with clients, community partners, funders and Richstone staff;
• Attend and participate in meetings and training sessions; participate in emergency drills and environmental safety activities, as requested
• Perform other duties as assigned;
• Act in accordance with Richstone’s mission and vision

Qualifications:

• Minimum one year of janitorial/custodial work;
• Must be able to lift/push/pull/or move up to 75 lbs;
• Must possess knowledge of safety precautions and procedures;
• Knowledge of custodial cleaning methods and can safely demonstrate use of equipment and materials.
• Ability to work some evening and weekends;
• Must be able to operate a PC computer system;
• Good judgment and problem solving skills;
• Ability to work well independently and as a member of a team;
• Must successfully pass Department of Justice background check;
• Submit TB test or PPD Risk Assessment clearance;
• Must have reliable transportation, valid driver license and current insurance.
