The Rockefeller Foundation is Hiring a Director, Global Economic Recovery Near Washington, DC

Position Overview

The Director is a critical member of The Rockefeller Foundation’s Global Economic Recovery (GER) portfolio that focuses on policy interventions that can enhance the capacity and efficiency of the development and climate finance space.

The Director works under the direction of the VP, Global Economic Recovery and is responsible principally for working closely with the GER team and senior advisors to (i) evaluate and execute GER’s strategy to support policy analysis, diplomatic engagement with policymakers, coalition-building, and advocacy efforts; (ii) provide strategic support to senior advisors of the Foundation who are advancing our international policy work; (iii) furthering partnerships with other policy champions, experts, and stakeholders to support the Foundation’s international work.

In addition, the Director is responsible for strengthening the Foundation’s reputation and position of market leadership through communications, convenings, and engagement with key officials and stakeholders.

Pay Range: $164,663 - $247,726. This represents the present low and high end of the Foundation’s pay range for this position. Actual pay will vary based on various factors, including but not limited to experience.

Work Schedule: This is a 12-month fixed-term assignment. The role is on a hybrid work schedule and required to be in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with the GER team and senior advisors to direct partnership engagement and interact, with government leaders, ministers and senior officials, and multilateral agency leaders and banks to establish and seek alignment and support for the reform agenda, particularly those of emerging and developing countries.
  • Provide strategic advice and messaging around the Bridgetown Initiative, as well as other key reform agendas, including through the Climate Emergency Collaboration Group (CECG), grantees, the Bridgetown Political Champions, and other CSO/stakeholder coordination mechanisms.
  • Provide strategic advice on the GER reform agenda and RF’s strategic approach.
  • Design and organize events sponsored/hosted by and on behalf of the Foundation on critical issues related to the development and climate finance reform agenda, as well as other international topics of RF interest.
  • Prepare and/or review briefing memos/notes/draft statements/press releases and similar materials on reform initiatives and policy options.

Education, Experience, and Skills

  • Generally expected to have 10 years of experience in domestic/global policy roles. 
  • Knowledge of and familiarity working with diverse stakeholders in the development, climate, finance, and/or international partnership fields.
  • Ability to comprehend finance-oriented policy proposals.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage external partners and stakeholders. 
  • Demonstrated ability in strategy development and implementation. 
  • Demonstrated experience in international, diplomatic, and/or global conference settings.
  • Proactive, results-oriented mentality with strong attention to detail
  • Strong writing and communication skills – and ability to represent RF work at all levels internally and externally.
  • Undergraduate degree in policy, finance, or economics, or equivalent work experience. 
  • Ability to travel as necessary both domestically and internationally.
