Job Description
Are you seeking a place where "Doing the most good" is a mission? The Salvation Army Family Store has a Director of Operations position available for the ideal candidate. This candidate must have strong leadership and people management abilities, along with an understanding of logistics, production, fiscal responsibility, and the drive/passion for retail excellence.
Essential Functions:
  • Assists with budget preparation guides ARC departments to work within approved budgets.
  • Reviews finances daily/weekly and cross checks for accuracy.
  • Oversees all product including pick-up and store delivery.
  • Oversees all warehouse production and seeks effective cost control methods while still meeting customer needs.
  • Oversees purchasing of supplies.
  • Works with vendors to ensure rag and bulk sales are handled effectively.
  • Maintains and reviews records concerning product acquisition, production, and sales while noting trends for appropriate action.
  • Oversees all store operations participating in forecasting of sales.
  • Attends/leads monthly manager's meetings.
  • Works with leadership team and ARC Command to develop marketing strategies and sales.
  • Oversees preventative maintenance of all center properties and equipment.
  • Oversees the ARC Fleet, meeting all Federal and State regulations.
  • Oversees inventory for each department.
  • Manages minor property repairs gathers bids for other assigned projects.
  • Works with Leadership for expansion opportunities and completes documents for lease renewals.
  • Works with ARC Director of Rehabilitation Services in assigning, supervising, and training beneficiaries to maximize work therapy goals.
  • Supports the mission of The Salvation Army.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education Experience -Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or that of Industrial Arts Sciences preferred. Five years experience in the industry that includes experience with production scheduling, supervision, and recruitment; or a combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and qualify to drive for The Salvation Army.
  • Must be forklift certified. Being a certified trainer is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Strong Excel skills a plus.
  • Ability to problem-solve.
  • Must have good people development management skills.
  • Able and willing to travel to each of the center properties on a regular basis.
  • Able and willing to attend trainings as assigned by Administrator.
Supervisory:
Oversees the Regional Manager, Store Managers, Warehouse Manager, Transportation Supervisor/Dispatcher, and Maintenance staff. To include:
  • Recruiting
  • Interviewing
  • Recommendations for hire
  • Training
  • Supervising
  • Time Attendance
  • Supports develops Supervisors/Managers as they provide leadership to their staff.
  • Ensure compliance with HR policies procedures.
  • Supports Managers to create deliver corrective actions (documentation).
  • Provides recommendations for termination.
Physical:
Regularly required to stand; use hands, handle, and feel; and hear or talk. Frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel or crouch. Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities include close, distance, and the ability to adjust focus.
