The Salvation Army Eastern Territory is Hiring a Receptionist/Office Assistant Near Ravenna, OH

Overview:
FUNCTION: The person filling this position must have the ability to Provide and facilitate assistance to people calling on the telephones as well as walking into our facility. Schedules appointments applications & assistance as directed. Completes clerical work for on-going programs including data entry, reporting, correspondence and other office functions which support the daily operation of offered programs. Provides program support for Christmas, Back-to-School and other seasonal programs. Must relate well with others including staff, clients, volunteers and representatives from other agencies. Must be neat, orderly and timely in the accomplishment of all tasks. Applicant must be dependable, even tempered and able to take direction.
Responsibilities:

DUTIES:

  • Answer incoming telephone calls in a professional manner. Schedule and follow through with appointments for social service assistance. Transfer calls to other staff as need, along with initial caller information.
  • Complete data entry, including all pertinent information, as requested.
  • Greet and provide initial assistance to everyone entering our building in a professional manner. Give direction to visitors and contact appropriate staff. Provide initial client intake or schedule appointments for future assistance as necessary.
  • Work closely with the Office Manager/Case Worker and Corps Officers for scheduling of weekly hours and coverage of office requirements.
  • Assist with the compilation of monthly statistics and reports for social services and related programs.
  • Assist with correspondence, mailings and other clerical duties related to office operations.
  • Provide intake and clerical support for all ongoing and seasonal programs.
  • Provides clerical support including scheduling, record keeping and reporting for appointed Community Service workers.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, training, and other related meetings as requested.
  • Work cooperatively and in a professional manner with the Corps Officers, Office Staff, Volunteers, Clients and all members of the Public with whom the employee may come into contact while performing the duties of this position.
  • Complete all duties in a manner that is timely and accurate while maintaining the highest level of Confidentiality for all information regarding the Clients, Programs and Operation of The Salvation Army.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
  • These duties are not exclusive and, with consideration of the job requirements and the employee’s skills, this job description may be adjusted at the discretion of the Corps Officers. Changes will only be made after consultation with the appropriate staff and with the approval of the Divisional Human Resources Director. All changes in job description will be provided

to the Employee for review and signature.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent. Further education and experience in related field also considered.
  • Excellent communication skills and fluent knowledge of the English language both written and verbal.
  • Computer and data entry experience, and knowledge of computer programs is required.
  • Must have excellent organizational and clerical skills.
  • Must respect and maintain absolute confidentiality and be able to work on own without constant supervision.
  • Acceptable for Bonding as required.
  • Good mathematical skills including units of measure, fractions, decimals, rates, ratios and percentages.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to learn, apply and develop new programs, concepts and procedures.
  • Must be able to work well with diverse populations and to pleasantly communicate with and relate to persons of all economic and educational levels, including clients, staff, volunteers, community leaders, and other agency representatives.
  • Must be able to handle self well with difficult or uncooperative clients or in pressure situations.
  • Must understand and agree with the mission and guidelines of The Salvation Army, upholding established standards and serving with a sense of concern and commitment to the human service needs of the disadvantaged, elderly, marginalized and those facing difficulty.
