The Salvation Army Indiana Division is Hiring a Nursery Worker Near Albany, IN

The Salvation Army Mission Statement:The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church. Its message is based on the Bible. Job Objective:The Nursery Coordinator is expected to provide spiritual, emotional, and physical care for the children 0-5 years old and ensure that our mission to “preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and meet human need in His name without discrimination” is effectively carried out.
What You Will Do:
  • Provide age-appropriate care which includes feeding, changing diapers, maintaining a safe environment, holding, siting, & interacting with children.
  • Plan and execute weekly age appropriate and engaging Bible lessons for attendees using provided Christian education curriculum or similar approved materials.
  • Ensure that safety of nursery and toddler room is maintained and in proper working order; report all property issues to the Corps Officer(s).
  • Cultivate relationships with parents through respectful communication.
  • Ensure proper cleaning and sanitization of all toys and surfaces.
  • Other duties assigned by Christian Education Director.
Minimum Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred
Background Checks: Position requires a background check to be completed and all background check results will be reviewed.
Experience: at least 2 years of childcare and/or babysitting and childcare course by The American Red Cross or similar accredited program
Certifications:
Must complete Safe from Harm training within the first 90 days of employment.
Skills/Abilities:
  • Able to speak, write and understand English in a manner sufficient for effective communication with leadership, field personnel, and clientele.
  • Must demonstrate a calm, nurturing and support demeanor.
Supervisory Responsibility: will supervise volunteers in nursery

  • Good speaking, hearing and vision ability, and excellent manual dexterity
  • Lifting, pulling, and pushing of materials up to 25 pounds
  • May require bending, squatting, walking.
  • May require standing for extended
Travel: no travel required
Working Conditions: Work is performed in a nursery setting on Sundays; office setting provided for Sunday preparation if requested.
