The Salvation Army - NJ Division is Hiring a Family Hope Center Supervisor Near Newark, NJ

Essential Function

Under the supervision of the Manager of Human Services, with support from the Divisional Director of Human Services, the Family Hope Center Supervisor will develop and build a sustainable program that provides wellness and mental health support and interventions to decrease cognitive and behavioral dysregulation, reduce crises, and strengthen coping abilities. The Family Hope Center Supervisor is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, and monitoring a wide variety of initiatives to support families and staff with the overarching goal of enabling families to thrive through building ongoing relationships with their children at home.

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), the Family Hope Center Supervisor will provide leadership that promotes trauma-informed staff training, consultation, and supervision to incorporate an awareness of trauma’s impact on all aspects of the program’s activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

Program Development

· Develop and build a sustainable preventative wellness and mental health program that is scalable to all locations.

· Identify initial target participants for the pilot program.

· Identify appropriate assessments and screening tools and create a pre/post survey to evaluate program effectiveness.

· Incorporate clinical social work interns into program activities.

· Create a system to track program participants who need intensive case management support and a referral process to external mental health providers.

· Create program forms and policies as needed.

Program Management

· Coordinate with appropriate departments to implement ongoing development and training for Human Services and Youth Development staff.

· Supervise and train wellness interns to conduct individual and group sessions.

· Collaborate with multiple departments and staff to provide wraparound services to participants.

· Implement trauma-informed practices to provide dynamic and interactive engagement, assessment, intervention, and evaluation processes.

· Supervise part-time Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs) to coordinate wraparound services with Human Services Department and conduct individual and group sessions.

· Support the Youth Development program team to identify, understand, and respond to problem behaviors in youth members.

· Utilize and train staff to use evidence-based interventions to achieve participants’ goals.

· Evaluate program outcomes and practice effectiveness.

· Help formulate a response plan regarding behavioral and mental health crises.

· Maintain accurate, confidential, and updated case records following The Salvation Army record-keeping policies and procedures.

· Ensure accurate and timely submission of records and reports in applicable databases for all community programs and funding sources as requested.

Direct Service

· Conduct comprehensive bio-psychosocial assessments with screening, additional standardized evaluations, and other initial diagnostic interviews and strategies, resulting in realistic treatment plans.

· Walk alongside participants to help identify needs and develop individualized, strength-based treatment plans that reflect the participant’s goals and objectives in conjunction with the assigned case manager.

· Provide intervention services such as individual Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and group therapy/wellness sessions.

· Provide parents, guardians, and caregivers with resources and tools to develop resilience through individual or group sessions on family strengthening, life skills, mindfulness, etc. Incorporating peer-led group activities.

· Refer families to external supports and resources as needed.

· Refer clients in need of pastoral care to Corps Officers for follow-up.

Qualifications

· Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field required.

· LCSW – License Clinical Social Worker Certification in NJ required.

· Completed supervisory courses to supervise MSW students and field placement interns, such as Seminar in Field Instruction (SIFI).

· Two (2) years of experience providing case management, counseling, or related skills.

· Knowledge of diagnostic assessment, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), solution-focused brief therapy, motivational interviewing, and other applicable social work/psychology theories and practices.

· An extensive understanding of mental health issues, current laws, and regulations.

· Experience working with a trauma-informed approach.

· Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to establish rapport.

· Ability to maintain the confidentiality of interactions with clients and fellow employees.

· Awareness and sensitivity to cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of populations served.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including but not limited to Word, Excel, & Outlook.

· Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 per year
