QualificationsHigh school diploma/GED with prior relevant experience and volunteer experience. Must have good communication skills, able to follow instructions, have a valid Drivers License, a good driving record, meet the MVR drivers’ qualifications, and pass The Salvation Army’s background check, and be willing to support the mission of The Salvation Army.
Summary Of PositionThis position has a workweek expectation of at least 35 hours per week. This is a seasonal position without benefits. Responsible for answering the telephone in the Volunteer Service Department and scheduling volunteers for bell ringing sites for the kettle season. Provide assistance and administrative support to the Volunteer Coordinator.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Answer all telephone calls in a courteous and professional manner, answering volunteer inquiries and directing all other calls to the appropriate staff
  • Assist volunteers with completing The Salvation Army Volunteer Application on our website
  • Assist Volunteer Coordinator with routine clerical duties including, but not limited to, stuffing envelopes, and sending out thank you letters
  • Assist Volunteer Coordinator in orientation of the kettle workers
  • Enter required data in the computer program provided
  • Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationship with co-workers and supervisors. This would include but not be limited to such actions: resolution of conflicts in a professional manner; courteous treatment of staff, visitors and clients;
respect of others’ property and person; professional and appropriate communication to and about co-workers, supervisors and subordinates
  • Support the mission of The Salvation Army by treating every client and colleague with individual respect and dignity, and with our discrimination of any kind
  • All other duties as assigned
Working ConditionsThe duties and responsibilities of this position cannot be performed from home. There are normally no hazardous or significantly unpleasant physical working conditions, with the exception of the occasional emotional distress or turmoil (due to varying situations) with and between staff and/or clients.
