Location: National Capital Area Command - Turning Point Center Position Type: Regular Full-Time/Hourly
Pay Range: $23.46 - $26.78/hour
About this opportunity: This position is responsible for assisting the Program Director by undertaking a broad scope of responsibilities to facilitate the smooth and efficient functioning of the Turning Point Center facility. Perform work of an advanced, complex, and confidential nature. Ensure the accomplishment of the various office and facilities tasks in the most efficient and effective manner possible. Ensure office operations are in compliance with established departmental policies and procedures. Manage a variety of administrative functions.
Key responsibilities:
- Orders office supplies and ensures that the office supply inventory is maintained at a level to meet program needs; prepares purchase requisitions and orders equipment and any other special items required for the program operations; reviews office supply catalogs for desired items and ensures items are ordered at an economical price when possible.
- Coordinates routine inspections, maintenance and repairs of facility equipment and office machines by vendors, contractors and NCAC staff; ensures that office equipment is operated and maintained in compliance with acceptable practices and procedures to preserve life of equipment; contacts vendors to obtain estimates; coordinates and schedules inspections and repairs
- Assigns apartments to new families; coordinates with Building Maintenance Mechanic to ensure repairs are completed and apartments are furnished and stocked so that apartments are ready for new residents in accordance with move-in schedule.
What we are looking for in you: - High School diploma or GED required; additional courses from a technical or vocational school preferred,
- AND
- Six (6) years of progressively responsible experience performing office management in a general office, with general familiarity of building maintenance and facilities operations
- OR
- Bachelor's degree in Business Management or related field and two (2) years of progressively responsible experience performing office management in a general office, with general familiarity of building maintenance and facilities operations;
- OR
- Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.Ability to perform routine mathematical computations. Ability to keypunch information into a computer.Ability to sort and file documents alphabetically and numerically. Ability to operate various general office equipment including a telephone, computer, copier, and calculator. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail with constant breaks in concentration associated with answering phones or speaking in person to clients requiring assistance. Ability to work well under the pressure of deadlines. Ability to follow instructions and work independently with limited supervision. Ability to effectively and efficiently work on multiple projects at the same time without becoming frustrated or disorganized.
Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting, and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time. Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking. Work may be performed in a normal office environment within a climate-controlled structure. There is little, or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, and dirt.
