The School District of Lee County is Hiring a Manager, Food and Nutrition Services Near Fort Myers, FL

The School District of Lee County is currently seeking a Manager, Food and Nutrition Services at Tice Elementary School in Fort Myers.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of management experience in school food service child nutrition programs.
  • Successful completion of the Manager, Food and Nutrition Services (Intern) training program.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license.
  • ServSafe Manager Certification.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • Four (4) years of management experience in school food service child nutrition programs.

Relevant work experience or education may be substituted to satisfy minimum qualifications.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Clear and concise oral and written communication skills; organizational and management skills; mathematical skills.
  • Knowledge of the proper use and capabilities of institutional food service equipment.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of the culinary institutional food industry.
  • Knowledge of pertinent regulations, policies, and procedures for the functional area of assignment.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, Public Records, Sunshine Law, FERPA, and other laws/regulations related to student and employee privacy, public information, and records retention.
  • Knowledge of and experience with industry-standard equipment, materials, practices, computers, and applications.
  • Ability to professionally and effectively respond to customer needs and requests for service or assistance..
  • Ability to research, prepare, and present food handling and preparation training sessions.
  • Ability to garner and implement innovative ideas to enhance the food service program.
  • Ability to work with and lead diverse groups of people.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Use knowledge of federal, state, and local policies, procedures, and guidelines to train kitchen staff in proper District food handling and preparation techniques.
  • Maintain current knowledge in nutrition standards, sanitation, safety, quality control, and use of institutional food service equipment.
  • Assist with product taste testing processes.
  • Assist with new menu item development and testing.
  • Assist with alternative food packaging testing.
  • Assist with work schedules to ensure best/most efficient and effective use of kitchen staff.
  • Assist with cleaning schedules to ensure all equipment is maintained to meet all District standards of safety and sanitation and is compliant with local and state health standards.
  • Supervise and instruct kitchen personnel in sanitation and safe, proper, and efficient use of all kitchen equipment to assure high standards of sanitation and safety and compliance with local and state health standards.
  • Assist in developing and training strategies to improve productivity.
  • Assist in developing and training strategies to improve food serve item quality.
  • Assist in developing and training strategies to improve customer service.

Additional Job Information

$20.38/hr

40 hours/week
