The SEED School of Maryland is Hiring a Facilities Technician Near Baltimore, MD

Job Purpose:

The Facilities Technician will have a variety of duties and report directly to the Facilities Engineer, will provide support to all Seed School of Maryland staff. The Facilities Technician scheduled hours are flexible Monday through Friday with a 30 minute lunch break. These hours are subject to change with advanced notice at the desertion of the school. In addition, he will need to be available as school needs and facilities needs dictate. Facilities Technician I is to punch in at the start time daily.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with maintenance requests from staff including but not limited to replacing light bulbs, fixing broken furniture, plastering damaged walls, painting touch up jobs, hanging pictures, office repairs and other requests
  • Provide facilities support for basic electrical and plumbing maintenance problems
  • Maintain storage of basic maintenance supplies to be able to respond to facilities requests in a prompt manner
  • Prepare conference rooms and other areas for meetings.
  • Assist teachers with classroom setup and staff with office moves.
  • Attend a daily stand up meeting with the Facilities Engineer
  • Be on call two weeks out of each month as scheduled. Be available to respond to facilities needs at all hours as necessary and to communicate plans and needs of situations prescribed by process.
  • Maintain and repair heating,ventilating,air conditioning systems
  • Operate a variety of equipment and hand tools to perform work
  • Reads blueprints, piping, sketches ,schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Regulates materials and supplies. Calls vendors to discuss needs for parts and supplies.
  • Performs brazing, soldering for repairs.
  • Maintain all documentation
  • Perform as a member of the facilities team and support of all campus emergency situations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience & Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent work experience
  • Must have two years of experience performing a variety of support functions in an office/campus environment.
  • General experience in generating basic maintenance reports or logs
  • Experience with using basic hand and power tools
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must have HVACR certification

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret orders
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from staff members, customers, board members
  • Ability to effectively present information to supervisors, customers and others
  • Ability to analyze and solve basic maintenance issues

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel; crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must be able to frequently lift and/or move boxes up to 50 lbs. in weight and occasionally lift and/or move boxes up to 75 lbs in weight. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is exposed to a noise level in the work environment that is usually moderate.
