We are seeking a passionate and skilled Sustainability Coordinator to join our team and help us achieve our sustainability and waste stream reduction goals. The Sustainability Coordinator will play a key role in developing and implementing strategies to improve the environmental performance of our products and operations as well as social performance of the team and company. This position will focus on reducing the environmental impact of our manufacturing processes, enhancing resource efficiency, and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in sustainability practices, environmental engineering, lean processing, and project management.

Key Responsibilities:

- Create and execute sustainability strategies to minimize the environmental impact of our manufacturing processes, including resource use, waste management, and energy consumption.

- Stay abreast of environmental regulations and ensure our company adheres to all relevant laws and standards. Monitor changes in legislation and recommend adjustments to policies and practices as necessary.

- Collaborate with our suppliers to promote sustainable practices throughout the supply chain. Evaluate supplier performance and assist in sourcing materials that meet our sustainability criteria.

- Champion lean waste reduction principles and methodologies (e.g., 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping) to drive continuous improvement throughout the organization.

- Collect and analyze data on environmental metrics such as carbon footprint, water usage, and waste generation. Prepare regular reports for management and stakeholders on sustainability performance and initiatives.

- Analyze current manufacturing processes to identify inefficiencies, and areas for improvement. Develop and implement strategies to streamline workflows and reduce cycle times and production waste to optimize resource utilization.

- Educate and engage employees at all levels on sustainability initiatives and best practices. Foster a culture of environmental responsibility throughout the organization.

- Develop and implement sustainability strategies to reduce the environmental impact of our manufacturing processes and products.

- Conduct life cycle assessments (LCAs) to evaluate the environmental impact of products and identify areas for improvement.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate sustainable practices into product design, material selection, manufacturing processes.

- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and industry standards.

- Conduct sustainability audits and assessments to identify potential environmental risks and areas for improvement.

- Lead initiatives to achieve sustainability certifications and recognition, such as BIFMA LEVEL, LEED, FSC, and ISO 14001.

- Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on sustainability practices and initiatives.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. 

- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in sustainability or environmental engineering, preferably in the manufacturing industry.

- Strong knowledge of sustainability principles, carbon footprint calculations, life cycle assessment methodologies, and environmental regulations.

- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and standards

- Experience with sustainability certification processes (e.g. BIFMA LEVEL, LEED, FSC, ISO 14001).

- Proficiency in using sustainability assessment tools and software.

- Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and trends.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

- Effective communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across departments.
