Shop Hand - Ford Lincoln

As a Shop Hand at our Ford Lincoln dealership, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the efficiency and organization of our service department. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting technicians with various tasks, ensuring the shop is clean and orderly, and managing tools and equipment. This position requires attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and a passion for automotive excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist Technicians:

  • Support mechanics and technicians with routine tasks such as fetching tools, parts, and supplies.
  • Help with the setup and breakdown of equipment for vehicle repairs and maintenance.
  • Assist in the removal and installation of vehicle components under the guidance of certified technicians.

Shop Maintenance:

  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including sweeping, mopping, and trash disposal.
  • Regularly inspect and restock shop supplies, ensuring all items are readily available.
  • Organize and store tools and equipment properly after use.

Vehicle Handling:

  • Move and park vehicles safely within the dealership lot and service area.
  • Conduct basic vehicle inspections and fluid checks as directed.
  • Assist with the preparation of vehicles for customer delivery.

Tool and Equipment Management:

  • Keep an accurate inventory of shop tools and equipment, reporting any missing or damaged items.
  • Perform routine maintenance on shop equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Arrange for the repair or replacement of faulty tools and equipment.

Customer Service:

  • Provide courteous and professional assistance to customers and coworkers.
  • Communicate effectively with service advisors and technicians regarding vehicle status and needs.
  • Assist with the intake and release process of customer vehicles.

Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in an automotive service environment is preferred but not required.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Basic understanding of automotive repair and maintenance processes.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively in a team setting.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate shop equipment and hand tools safely.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and moving within the shop environment.
  • Comfortable working in a physically demanding and fast-paced setting.

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
