The Sleep Code is a luxury e-commerce destination devoted to sleep and nightly routine.

Today’s wellness sites are lacking when it comes to sleep.While some brands address issues around sleep, they aren’t comprehensive and the voice they use can be urgent and chiding, emphasizing all the ways that sleep is vitally important and how we’re doing it wrong. For someone with a sleep issue, this can be disheartening and overwhelming.

In this landscape, The Sleep Code is a breath of fresh air. It offers reliable advice, curated products, and a delightful consumer experience, all in one convenient place.

Position Overview

As the Marketing & Communications Manager, you will play a crucial role in leading and managing all marketing efforts across The Sleep Code. You will be responsible for the strategic planning, execution, and evaluation of marketing initiatives to grow brand awareness, drive customer engagement, and achieve other key business objectives. You will work cross-functionally with the buying & merchandising team on sales and e-commerce strategies to enhance the customer experience and improve customer retention. This role reports directly to the co-founders and CEO.

Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Budget Management

  • Develop comprehensive marketing strategies to grow brand awareness, drive customer acquisition, improve customer retention, and support any other business goals set forth by leadership.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends and opportunities, and understand the competitive landscape.
  • Define target audience segments and develop tailored marketing campaigns to reach them effectively.
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive brand marketing calendar in partnership with cross-functional teams.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align marketing efforts with overall business strategies.
  • Develop and manage the marketing budget, allocating resources effectively to maximize impact. Monitor expenses and ROI of marketing initiatives to make data-driven optimizations to budget allocation.

Digital Marketing

  • Lead digital marketing initiatives, including website management, SEO/SEM, email marketing, performance marketing, and social media campaigns.
  • Work collaboratively with The Sleep Code’s paid media agency to analyze paid marketing performance and optimize campaigns for maximum impact.
  • Establish KPIs and metrics to measure the success of all marketing campaigns.
  • Analyze data and generate reports to track progress, identify areas for improvement, and make data-driven recommendations.
  • Public Relations, Influencer & Affiliate Marketing
  • Manage all public relations efforts, including media relations, press releases, gifting seeding, and press events. Identify and establish key relationships with press contacts to increase brand visibility.
  • Ensure clear and consistent messaging across all communication channels to maintain brand integrity.
  • Lead all influencer and affiliate marketing initiatives, including influencer list building and outreach, gifting seeding, paid influencer activations, and influencer events. Manage end-to-end communication with influencers, agents, and third party event vendors.

Brand Management

  • Manage and uphold The Sleep Code’s brand identity, ensuring consistency across all marketing channels.
  • Develop brand messaging and positioning that resonates with target audiences.
  • Oversee the creation of marketing collateral, including digital assets, print materials, and multimedia content.
  • Manage end-to-end production of e-commerce and lifestyle photoshoots. This includes leading creative concepts, developing shot lists, casting and communicating with talent, and employing industry best practices for imagery/video content in the digital space.

Team Leadership

  • Manage a team of two direct reports, setting clear goals and tracking performance.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment that encourages creativity and professional growth.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in a marketing role. While not required, experience at a small company is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic marketing plans that are aligned with larger business goals. Experience managing brand marketing calendar required.
  • Strong analytical skills to conduct market research, analyze data, and identify trends and opportunities.
  • Experience in developing and managing marketing budgets, allocating resources for maximum impact.
  • Proficiency in email and content marketing. Must be familiar with Klaviyo.
  • Experience in managing a performance marketing agency, collaborating on digital strategy and budget allocation, and identifying KPIs that are in alignment with overall business goals.
  • Understanding of brand identity, messaging, and positioning strategies.
  • Basic experience in public relations. While not required, existing relationships with key media players is desired.
  • Management of influencer and affiliate marketing programs that successfully increased brand awareness.
  • Demonstrated success in both event and photoshoot production.
  • Knowledge of industry trends, best practices, and regulations related to marketing and communications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience with brand copywriting.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to easily adapt to changing market trends and competitive landscapes.
  • Team player who works collaboratively with others and is comfortable spearheading cross-functional tasks.
  • Experience managing a team of direct reports.
  • Must have Shopify experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
