Responsibilities:

• Maintain a working knowledge of billing requirements for all SPARC service lines 
• Communicate and coordinate with staff, leadership and payers to ensure prompt submission and payment of claims
• Research and appeal/correct denied claims 
• Proactively determining solutions for handling unique billing situations
• Escalating unresolved issues appropriately and recommending solutions to minimize future problems
• Ensuring compliance with regulations and requirements of payers in addition to agency and department policies, procedures and standards

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• 2 years of office experience in a healthcare setting
• Preferred: 2 years experience in Medicaid behavioral health billing
• Ability to engage and build rapport
• Ability to work with a culturally diverse population
• Ability to make judgment calls and quick decisions in crisis situations
• Strong oral and written communications
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently
• Ability to meet training and paperwork deadlines
• Intermediate or advanced knowledge of computer word processing
• Proficiency in using Excel
• Ability to work flexible hours, and travel as necessary
• Ability to work well in a team environment 
• Ability to conceptualize, organize, create and follow through with assigned projects
• Possess an understanding of the rules of confidentiality
• Possess a valid driver’s license, safe and reliable personal automobile transportation, and valid auto insurance policy
