The Staff Pad is Hiring a Counselor III (Child & Family LGBTQ + Case Manager) Near Portland, OR

As a Cultural Specialist III, you will provide culturally competent services to LGBTQ youth and transitional age adults, working closely with mental health and physical health care providers, culturally specific agencies, and other social service organizations. You will play a key role in ensuring the best possible treatment for our clients while fostering a Trauma Informed Care environment. Additionally, you will offer consultation and support to ensure culturally competent, quality, person-centered care.
Essential Duties:
  • Act as a liaison between community partners, specializing in services for LGBTQ youth.
  • Collaborate with schools, Q Center, SMYRC, Youth Avenue, and other community partners to process referrals and provide follow-up services.
  • Deliver gender-affirming services following the standards of the World Professional Association of Transgender Health.
  • Conduct mental health assessments, including evaluating risk factors and formulating treatment plans.
  • Provide family, individual, and group therapy, and assist in developing community support networks.
  • Advocate for clients, assisting them in securing housing, medical, and emergency services.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and comply with all relevant laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Participate in crisis interventions and maintain professional boundaries and ethics.
  • Provide guidance, support, and training to staff in alignment with our mission and values.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Master’s Degree in a behavioral science field from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience: Minimum of one year of experience serving mental health clients from diverse backgrounds, specifically focusing on LGBTQ populations. Demonstrated life experience is also valued.
  • Specialized Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
    • Ability to demonstrate cultural responsiveness which may include:
      • Evidence of one year’s supervision by a person who is a Culturally Competent Mental Health Professional or the equivalent.
      • Demonstration of completion of a minimum of one hundred clock hours of specialized training devoted to helping individuals who experience marginalized issues and treatment.
      • Evidence of informed support from marginalized communities that attests to the individual’s cultural competence and commitment to service to that community.
      • Ability to work effectively within the traditions, culture, values, including historical trauma, of individuals and families who identify with the one of the following communities: LGBTQ , Black/African American, LatinX, Asian, multilingual, or multicultural population.
    • Trauma Informed Services, culturally responsive care, mental health assessment, risk assessment, crisis intervention, strength-based case management, and proficiency with Electronic Health Records.
