Job Summary: We are seeking an actuary to join our Employee Benefits (EB) Projections Team. In this critical role, you will collaborate with stakeholders across the division on efforts to monitor the company’s performance against strategic goals. Your focus will be on conducting experience studies, financial planning, reporting and forecasting specifically related to group insurance in order to contribute to informed decision-making and drive successful business outcomes through actuarial analysis.
  • Management Reporting: Development of models for reporting actual, forecast and target projections of EB business, incorporating inputs from the Pricing, Financial Reporting, Valuation, Actuarial Modeling and Data departments. Communicate findings to management to assist and influence corporate/division financial strategies.
  • Strategy and M&A integration: Integration of financial, valuation and management reporting related to longer term strategy and recent acquisitions into actuarial models.
  • Data Analysis/Information Systems: Extract, analyze and prepare data for use in actuarial modeling. Analyze, interpret and present numerical data related to pricing, reserves and other actuarial analysis. Run, maintain and understand actuarial software and applications. Design, implement and maintain open-source code applications for use in the analysis of financial risks.
  • Dashboard/Front-End: Experience working with large data sets and maintaining and troubleshooting tools developed in SAS Enterprise Guide or similar platform such as Power BI, Dataiku or Databricks. Use of Excel, PowerBI, and Python to produce customized reports/dashboards and associated communications.
  • Analytical Skills: Uses actuarial, financial and industry knowledge to resolve complex issues in creative ways. Works on complex issues where analysis or data requires in-depth evaluation of quantitative and qualitative factors.
Skills and Background You’ll Need: Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) in mathematics, actuarial science, business or a related field preferred.
  • ASA designation required.
Experience:
  • Prior experience sufficient to have gained a seasoned actuarial business perspective required. This position is the highest level of the Actuarial Candidate career path prior to promotion into a position with senior Fellowship responsibility.
  • Actuarial Exams: Must be willing to continue to prepare for and pass actuarial exams to maintain continuing education requirements.
  • Group Insurance: Understanding of group insurance products and/or experience of actuarial work related to these products is preferred.

Please note - the salary range for this role is listed below. In addition to salary, our package includes incentive plan participation and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits, as well as an initial PTO accrual of 164 hours per year. Employees also receive 11 paid holidays and 2 wellness days per year.
  • Eligibility to participate in an incentive program is subject to the rules governing the program and plan. Any award depends on various factors, including individual and organizational performance.
Salary Range:
$125,500.00 - $184,000.00
