The Summit Retirement center is Hiring a RN Weekend Supervisor - Part Time Near Alexandria, LA

***SIGN ON BONUS***

Schedule is 8 hr shift on Saturday or Sunday. Either every weekend or every other weekend.

The Nursing Supervisor works with the Nursing Staff of the facility. The Nursing Supervisor plans, organizes, coordinates and directs the nursing functions for professional and non-professional nursing personnel to ensure the highest quality of care is provided in a cost effective manner with the residents in the facility. This is done in an efficient and timely manner with consideration for both health care and legal responsibilities of the residents, the facility and the employees.

The Nursing Supervisor works with the Director of Nursing to exercise responsibility and accountability for nursing service objectives, coordinates nursing function, activities, and nursing care, as well as providing oversight and supervision to the nursing staff, and their training and competency. The Nursing Supervisors’ role within the chain of command is to act as a resource person, providing the necessary information and assistance to the staff which will enable them to perform their duties and responsibilities in the best manner possible. The Supervisor serves as a primary communication link among shifts and units.

Qualifications

1. Demonstrates leadership and managerial ability balance by strong clinical knowledge and skills.

2. Has the ability to organize, plan and supervise the Nursing Department in coordination with other resident services.

3. Demonstrates the ability to lead the Nursing Department in a cost effective, professional manner.

4. Maintains effective interpersonal relationships and works well with the general public.

5. Is capable of implementing changes as determined by the Director of Nursing.

6. Is courteous in working with residents, families and employees.

7. Has a desire to work with the geriatric clientele as well as residents of any age and their current prospective needs.

8. Must demonstrate ability to follow policies, procedures, practices and direction without the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing.

9. Must demonstrate ability to evaluate the resident’s needs and implement systems to assure staff education is provided to provide quality care.

10. Must demonstrate the ability to function as a cooperative team member with all disciplines in the facility.

11. Must demonstrate the ability to manage Nursing Department within designated staffing and supply budget.

12. Is willing and capable of providing emergency care as needed for any resident in the facility.

Responsibilities

The Nursing Supervisor works with the Director of Nursing to assure the following responsibilities are accomplished. This list is only partial and should not be interpreted as a comprehensive inventory of all duties, tasks and responsibilities.

1. Ensures each unit is appropriately staffed at the beginning of the shift.

2. Makes adjustments as necessary, replacing staff as needed for the oncoming shift.

3. Makes rounds at the beginning of the assigned shift and frequently thereafter and implements interventions as needed.

4. Supervise nursing activities and promotes improvement in nursing care.

5. Maintains comfortable and pleasant environment and promotes elimination of hazards.

6. Ensure that supplies are available in proper quantities, that equipment is available in good condition, and that personnel using such supplies and equipment know where such are to be found and know the proper care and use.

7. Receives thorough reports from Charge Nurses on all shifts and works closely with them to insure maximum total care.

8. Participates in nursing care as needed and is responsible for the direct handling of any emergency situation which may arise.

9. Recognizes significant changes in the condition of residents and takes appropriate action

10. Assists with care as necessary to assure quality care is provided. This may include but not conclusive of assisting with ADLs, giving medications, doing treatments, supervising and assisting with meal service, calling physicians, transcribing orders, etc.

11. Assess each resident in acute distress or unusual situations during the scheduled time in the facility.

12. Ensures that all personnel on the shift are oriented to the duties assigned to them.

13. Assigns personnel according to various skills in relation to resident needs.

14. Have the ability to learn computer systems, system applications and related office equipment.

15. Promotes effective work relationships with the administrator, medical staff, personnel, volunteers, agencies, and management staff affiliated with the facility.

16. Attends and participates in facility meetings.

17. Reviews Quality Measures and takes an active role in improving quality.

18. Assist with investigations and follow up of incidents, accidents and grievances.

19. Audits documentation as needed.

20. Reports immediately to supervisor, administrator and local law enforcement situations involving abuse, neglect, or suspicion of a crime.

21. Adheres to the Code of Conduct, Compliance Program, HIPPA Standard, and Computer Usage Agreement.

22. Performs any other responsibilities as discussed and designated by the Director of Nursing.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $26.00 - $32.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 16 per week
