#1759 Controls Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer with expertise in Siemens PLC/HMI systems, ideally with experience at a General Motors (GM) facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing control systems to optimize manufacturing processes. This position requires strong technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop control systems using Siemens PLC/HMI platforms.
  • Program, test, and troubleshoot PLC and HMI applications to ensure optimal performance.
  • Integrate control systems with existing manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement control strategies.
  • Conduct regular maintenance and upgrades of control systems to ensure reliability and efficiency.
  • Document control system configurations, changes, and procedures.
  • Provide technical support and training to maintenance and production staff.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Analyze and resolve control system issues to minimize downtime and enhance productivity.
  • Participate in project planning, scheduling, and execution to meet deadlines and project goals.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience with Siemens PLC/HMI systems, preferably in a GM facility.
  • Strong knowledge of PLC programming languages (e.g., LAD, FBD, STL).
  • Proficiency in HMI design and configuration using Siemens software.
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP).
  • Experience with control system integration and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel and work on-site as required.
  • Preferred
    • Experience with other PLC/HMI platforms (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, Schneider Electric).
    • Knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes and standards.
    • Certification in Siemens PLC programming or a related field.
    • Experience with robotics and motion control systems.
