GENERAL SUMMARY
Under general supervision of the Director of Transplant Psychology and following the established policies, procedures and professional guidelines, the Transplant Psychologist diagnoses and evaluates mental and emotional disorders in patients undergoing evaluation for solid organ transplant, awaiting transplant, or having received a transplant. Administers programs of treatment, interview and observes patients and selects, administers, and interprets intelligence, achievement, personality, neuro-psychological and other tests to diagnose and to formulate treatment plans as it relates to transplant candidacy and post-transplant psychological health. Responsible for participation in Organ Program Medical Review Boards to assess patient candidacy for transplantation. Also responsible for the treatment of psychological disorders and serves as consultant and participates. in research endeavors. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.
Education: Doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology (Ph.D or Psy.D) from an APA approved program in accredited degree granting college or university. Pre-doctoral internship/residency from an APA-approved program. One-year Post-doctoral Fellowship in Clinical or Health Psychology. The ideal candidate will have training and experience in health psychology, experience working within a multidisciplinary team in a medical setting, familiarity with chronic illness management, biopsychosocial frameworks and evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions.
Licensure/Registration: Licensure by the State of Florida as a Psychologist. TGH hospital privileges are required. Experience in Transplantation or related field preferred.
