The Maintenance Construction Tech reports directly to the Construction Manager.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Under general supervision, maintain, repair, and install electrical systems, services, and equipment for Taylor Group Non-Bargaining Unit Facilities to include all Taylor owned properties.
  • Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all electrical fixtures and systems in Taylor Non-Bargaining facilities.
  • Serving as advisor/consultant to maintenance department personnel to resolve problems associated with the repair of other production equipment used throughout the Taylor organization.
  • While incumbent does not serve directly in a supervisory capacity, in the absence of the Manager, this person would assume these responsibilities of assigning priorities and scheduling work, manpower and other daily responsibilities normally handled by the Construction Manager.
  • This technician would routinely locate and order parts for inventory to prevent long lead They’d also seek out resources other than the manufacturer for comparative costs and delivery times.
  • The incumbent is consulted when a new piece of equipment is under consideration for purchase.
  • Some travel may be expected i.e., to attend factory-sponsored schools to learn to properly service and maintain each new piece of equipment Repairs or replaces electrical controls and motors on all types of machinery and equipment.
  • In the event such equipment is located in outlying plants, the incumbent travels to each plant or property and provides the same services as for the home plant.
  • Receive and complete work orders.
  • Maintain inventory of company-owned tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.
  • Work with other maintenance employees completing building projects.
  • Respond to emergency calls as needed.
  • Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
  • Supervisor may assign other duties and accountabilities limited to those consistent with the applicable job function and pay grade.

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Carpentry work to include but not limited to framing, finishing, sheetrock, ceilings, floorings, caulking, trim work, etc.
  • Detect needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment following established inspection procedures.
  • Thoroughly trained and has the background and experience to make repairs to this highly specialized equipment thereby saving the company vast sums of money and down time which would be expended if a service representative from the factory was required to make repairs.
  • Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
  • Ensure equipment is in safe operating condition.
  • Maintain accurate records on material and labor used.
  • Select material and hardware, make time and materials estimates.
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.

Education and Experience:

  • The incumbent in this position must have heavy background experience in the repair of electrical equipment, electrical circuits, plumbing, phone and data Must have training, EPA certifications or licenses as needed for the above. Keeps updated on new equipment and makes recommendations for the purchase of accessories that make the presently owned equipment more efficient for the company.
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Good driving record to be insurable by Corporate Insurance Policy
