Senior Benefits Specialist

Responsibilities include:

  • Benefits Administration : Support the planning, design, development, and administration of corporate benefits programs.
  • Guidance and Support : Provide benefits support and guidance to team members and management from all group companies.
  • Health Benefits Management : Administer group health benefits, educating team members and managers on various programs, and ensuring compliance with government regulations.
  • Documentation : Review and execute benefit documentation, including plan language, benefit agreements, amendments, and insurance SPDs.
  • Compliance : Ensure timely compliance with government regulations such as ERISA, COBRA, ADA, HIPAA, and FMLA.
  • Reporting : Prepare required reports and applications for federal and state agencies, such as the IRS and Department of Labor.
  • Legal Coordination : Review changes to state and federal laws and report necessary changes to management.
  • Vendor Management : Instruct insurance carriers, trustees, and other administrative agencies to implement changes in benefits programs.
  • Strategic Development : Participate in strategy development and implementation of new benefit programs.
  • Communication : Ensure effective communications to support the achievement of benefit objectives.
  • Issue Resolution : Resolve claim issues and insurance coverage questions for employees.
  • System Maintenance : Ensure systems accurately capture and process insurance deductions.
  • Support Functions : Assist Human Resources Management and Payroll with LOA, benefits training, compensation reviews, and reporting.

What you need to succeed:

  • Experience : A minimum of 5 years of human resource administrative experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge : Thorough knowledge of all federal and state employment laws (COBRA, ERISA, ADA, HIPAA, FMLA).
  • Skills : Strong statistical, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Technical Proficiency : Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites.
  • Organizational Skills : Ability to manage multiple competing deadlines effectively and professionally.
  • Detail-Oriented : Skill in organizing large amounts of data, reports, and presentations efficiently.
  • Experience with Large Teams : Proven experience managing benefits for a team of thousands of employees.
