Job Description

Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine as a Chaperone for Patient Care with our OB/GYN Clinic. In this role you will partner with the rest of the clinical team to provide patients with the highest quality of care. 

The Chaperone for Patient Care acts as a witness during sensitive examinations or procedures as well as other physical examinations as requested by a patient. A chaperone helps protect and enhance the patient’s comfort, safety, privacy, security, or dignity during their visit.

Essential Job Functions:

• Documents presence for a sensitive exam or verifies refusal of a chaperone by patient in Epic and/or Viewpoint.
• Ensures patient is appropriately covered and comfortable prior to exam.
• Positions self to visualize the point of physical contact during the examination, therapy, or procedure.
• Listens for explanations to the patient regarding the steps taken during the exam from the provider.
• Assumes clerical/admin responsibilities during downtime.

Required Qualifications:

• High School Graduate
• Excellent listening and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage sensitive interactions with discretion
• General working knowledge of PC, Epic a plus
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment

• Shift: 8:00am-4:30pm, M-F
• Unit/Department: OB/GYN

Must comply with UCMC’s COVID-19 Vaccination requirement as a condition of employment. If you have already received the vaccination, you must provide proof as part of the pre-employment process. This is in addition to your compliance with the Flu Vaccination requirement as well. Medical and religious exemptions will be considered consistent with applicable law. Lastly, a pre-employment physical, drug screening, and background check are also required for all employees prior to hire.
