The University of Kansas is Hiring a Graduate Student Testing Assistant, Student Access Center Near Lawrence, KS

Position Overview
The Graduate Student Testing Assistant assists the full-time Testing Coordinator in coordinating and administering accommodated exams for KU students registered with the Student Access Center. This position will also be trained in editing print materials for use by students who use accessible print accommodations. Staffing a table at events and assisting with other projects is also possible.

UASC programs encourage student participation both in and out of the classroom, support academic and personal development, and link students to other campus and community resources for academic and personal support and development. University Academic Support Centers is a department within Academic Success.
Job Description
  • 75% Assist full-time Testing Coordinator in coordinating academic testing accommodations for KU students with disabilities by proctoring accommodated exams. Other duties related to testing accommodations can include printing exams for students; scanning exams for return to instructors; scanning test cover sheets for electronic filing; training undergraduate proctors; and corresponding with faculty, staff, students, and multiple academic departments on campus.
  • 15% Assist SAC professional staff in accessible print production including the scanning and conversion of print-based materials into accessible formats.
  • 5% Represent Student Access Center at information tables or other orientation events.
  • 5% Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled KU Graduate student
  • Experience using common office technologies as demonstrated by previous work experience
  • During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong interest in working with students with disabilities as evidenced by cover letter.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills as demonstrated by the interview.
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word, Access and Excel, and Adobe products.
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with individuals of diverse backgrounds.

Advertised Salary Range
$16.00/hr
Work Schedule
Between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with extended hours during finals. Testing Center hours are 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. during finals week in the Spring and Fall semesters.
