The University of Kansas is Hiring a Student Hourly – FAFSA Advisor Near Lawrence, KS
Position Overview The Center for Educational Opportunity Programs (CEOP) is housed within the Achievement & Assessment Institute at the University of Kansas. CEOP serves as a beacon of educational equity, striving to empower students from underrepresented backgrounds to achieve their academic and personal aspirations. Founded on the principle of leveling the playing field, CEOP has been instrumental in breaking down barriers to higher education for marginalized communities since 1973. Specifically, CEOP serves first-generation, low-income, and historically underserved student populations. CEOP is seeking 3-4 FASFA Advisors to provide one-one-one assistance, informational sessions, and workshops to guide and support students through each step of the FASFA application process. The FASFA Advisor will work with students in Shawnee, Douglas and Wyandotte counties to enhance accessibility and assistance for historically underserved populations. Advisors will collaborate with existing CEOP programs to provide supplemental support at FAFSA events as well as hosting weekly in-person clinics and virtual office hours. Attend training on the FASFA application process
Provide high-level assistance and answer general questions about the FASFA application process
Host weekly virtual and/or in-person office hours to provide tailored assistance
Attend and support in-person FAFSA clinics and informational workshops at local community agencies
Support CEOP programs with FAFSA events
Request assistance from CEOP staff for complex questions
Required Qualifications
High attention to detail as evidenced by application materials.
Weekend and evening availability.
During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with FASFA application process.
Experience working with the target population.
A valid driver's license.
Experience speaking/making presentations in front of groups.
Experience advising/coaching in a one-on-one setting.
