Job Summary

Manage Federal Work-Study jobs on campus and Job Location and Development jobs off campus. Provide exceptional customer service working with students, on campus supervisors, and employer partners off campus. Balance compassion for the individuals being served while also showing dedication to the federal, state, and institutional policies.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work cross-functionally with Human Resources and Financial Aid in processing authorization forms and electronic payroll action forms in the Banner system
  • Establish and maintain strong professional relationships with agencies/businesses off campus for the Job Location Development Program
  • Closely monitor the Job Location Development student employees and maintain accurate records of placements
  • Assist on-campus and off-campus supervisors with posting jobs in Handshake and continually monitor any jobs identified as work-study and/or Job Location Development
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the Federal Work-Study regulations and Job Location Development Program guidelines
  • Co-facilitate communication between supervisors and student workers; act as a mediator during work-study disputes
  • Plan and coordinate campus events such as On Campus and Part-Time Job Fair and National Student Employee Week
  • Provide resume writing reviews, mock interviews, career coaching, and presentations alongside the Sr. Academic and Career Coach as needed
  • Assist on-campus offices’ in converting work-study jobs into internship opportunities
  • Co-facilitate Handshake and other relevant trainings for students and employers
  • Remain current on all federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs
  • Participate in activities designed for student success on and off campus
  • Participate in Office of Career and Student Development events and activities
  • Follow all FERPA policies to maintain student confidentiality
  • Maintain ongoing professional development via involvement with relevant professional associations
  • Participate in Career Development staff meetings
  • Participate in university-wide events such as Browse on the Bayou, PREP/POP, Grad Finale, Student Affairs activities, etc.
  • Complete yearly ethics training, quarterly safety training, employee evaluations, and any other mandated trainings
  • Attend national, regional, state conferences, and/or training programs pending funding to ensure professional development and to stay abreast of current issues/trends in the career service fields
  • Other duties as assigned by University President, Vice President for Student Affairs, Director of Employer Relations, or Executive Director of Career and Student Development

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required. 2 years’ professional experience required. Experience in financial and/or student services preferred. Experience in higher education is a plus. Experience with resume writing and career coaching is a plus. Proven track record of discretion and integrity in handling confidential information. Have a working knowledge about institutional, state, and federal aid practices and policies.
