The department of Facilities has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Manager, Shipping and Receiving to work at UHealth. The Manager, Materials Management develops supply chain systems and processes across the University's service platforms, logistics systems, and data platforms and formulates complex, highly scalable, reliable, and sustainable solutions to supply chain problems. Moreover, the incumbent creates vision, roadmap, and goals for University and assigned division(s)' products and services.
  • Hires, evaluates, and disciplines staff members, and prepares performance reports.
  • Acts as liaison between different departments to address receiving and distribution issues.
  • Conducts spot audits to verify the accuracy of packing slips.
  • Reports to appropriate managing staff any shortages or overages in shipment.
  • Reviews all inventory levels and adjusts to maintain adequate inventory turns.
  • Communicates with management to assist in the implementation of material management practices.
  • Ensures operation of applicable software systems related to inventory functions and maintains knowledge of upgrades and changes to ensure proper training.
  • Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.
  • Directs and coordinates trucking and moving operations to include planning and scheduling of moves.
  • Plans specific work assignments, assuring that all facets of the assignments are provided for including work schedules, materials and equipment availability, and manpower requirements, in order that assignments may be completed in the most efficient economical and timely manner.
  • Trains and instructs employees in their duties and responsibilities in order to develop their maximum effectiveness and potential.
  • Developed and maintains a well-disciplined and well-adjusted work force of capable, motivated employees and initials corrective disciplinary actions as necessary in the development and maintenance off such work force.
  • Assures that personnel are supplied with necessary tools, equipment and materials.
  • Prepares, keep and/or maintains records, reports, recommendations, evaluations, etc, reflecting the conditions under which services provided by the section are being accomplished and/or efficiency and economy of such operations.
  • Supervises work in progress and inspects completed assignments to insure satisfactory progress, work quality, operating procedures and practices, efficiency, safety and other work standard are being maintained. Managing and scheduling the work activities of shipping and receiving crews

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • The individual must possess valid motor vehicle operator's license as issued by the State. The person must maintain such a valid license during tenure of employment.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
  • Knowledge of business and management principles.
  • Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
  • Ability to establish department goals, and objectives that support the strategic plan.
  • Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and train others.
Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.
