Job Posting Title: Communications Manager ---- Hiring Department: Special Education ---- Position Open To: All Applicants ---- Weekly Scheduled Hours: 40 ---- FLSA Status: Exempt ---- Earliest Start Date: Jul 08, 2024 ---- Position Duration: Expected to Continue Until Sep 30, 2025 ---- Location: Texas ---- Job Details: Purpose The purpose of this position is to set and guide the strategy for all communications activities and dissemination of resources, in alignment with NDC mission and objectives. Responsibilities Develop and implement strategic communications plans to reach target audiences that are steeped in an understanding of community engagement, advocacy, and addressing bias. Manage a team of staff and consultants by using effective project management tools and strategies while facilitating a collaborative work environment and working closely with the NDC Leadership Team. Manage digital content including email communications, videos, images, graphics, and copy, by overseeing or executing when needed, with the support of staff and consultants. Oversee optimal website presence through coordination of web page maintenance, timely updating of assets, consideration of user experience, and maximizing SEO. Oversee social media engagement by guiding strategy, developing campaigns, reviewing content creation, utilizing analytics for continued improvement, ensuring compliance with NDC mission and branding. Evaluate communication analytics by managing data analysis across platforms, developing reports, leading strategic review meetings with staff and leadership, and implementing improvements. Engage in media outreach and relationship building; serve as the point of contact for media inquiries, organizational contacts, and outreach events; develop press releases and talking points. Ensure implementation of best practices in accessibility across social media platforms, web delivery, email communications, web resources, print materials, and video content. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field. Five or more years of experience working in communications and marketing. Demonstrated experience working with deaf communities as a target audience for communications efforts. Excellent written communication skills and knowledge of, or willingness to learn, American Sign Language. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications Seven or more years of experience working in communications and marketing. Demonstrated experience with disseminating complex content through the use of video, copywriting, and images. Management and supervisory experience. Fluency in American Sign Language.
