JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Benefits Analyst is responsible for managing the administration of assigned Health & Welfare and Retirement Benefit programs. Within UVMHN Total Rewards, the Benefits Analyst is responsible for medical, dental, vision, spending accounts, voluntary benefits and retirement. Network Benefit Analyst is also responsible for miscellaneous programs and projects that support Total Rewards, including employee education and development of necessary policies and procedures.
The Benefits Analyst is responsible for advanced problem resolution and may deal extensively with leaders, staff, consultants, and vendors to resolve issues. The Benefit Analyst manages components of projects such as annual open enrollment, vendor implementations, plan changes, and software upgrades and rollouts. The Benefit Analyst ensures benefit programs and their administration are compliant with plan documents and statutory regulations. Accordingly, the Analyst is expected to engage in ongoing professional development to maintain an understanding of changes affecting our plans.
The Benefit Analyst conducts outreach presentations to leaders and staff and serves as a content expert for the assigned benefit programs. The Analyst assists with the preparation of budgets including expense tracking and forecasting. The Benefit Analyst is also responsible for drafting and editing policies and communications related to benefit programs. A successful incumbent will possess strong HRIS system and spreadsheet skills.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which such knowledge and skills would be acquired. A professional certification such as PHR, SPHR, GBA, and CEBS is preferred.
EXPERIENCE
One to three years of experience in an HR setting with exposure to employee benefit plans and governing regulations such as COBRA, ERISA and ACA. Demonstrated familiarity with the administration of health and welfare plans and/or defined benefit and defined contribution retirement programs.
