GENERAL SUMMARY : The Clerk IV performs clerk duties in the department. Functions as the central communication source for the department process.
Maintains and organizes supplies, equipment, mail and information to staff, physicians and patients. Transcribes both manually and into the computer patient and unit information.
Directs both written and verbal communication to appropriate people. Answers the telephone and call system. Develops and maintains harmonious, customer friendly environment.
Accurately documents birth certificate, hearing screening and other information through HPN New York State System.QUALIFICATIONS : 1.
Must take Medical Terminology Exam and pass if no previous Unit Clerk experience. 2. High school graduate and ability to read, write and comprehend medical terminology and willingness to use positive communication skills.
3. Previous experience in clerical or receptionist position desired; hospital experience or satisfactory completion of training program preferred.
3. Able to perform detailed assignments, work under pressure, and relate to patients, hospital staff, physicians, and visitors.
4. Demonstrates ability to prioritize and complete multiple job responsibilities in a timely manner. 5. Competent in use of language when communicating via telephone.
6. Able to perform computer skills following appropriate training on hospital information system. 7. Meets requirement for pre-employment screening and physical exam.
