The Urban Assembly is Hiring an Institutional Giving Manager Near New York, NY

This is a New York City based hybrid position which requires a blend of onsite work with schools and district teams across NYC, days at Urban Assembly’s central office in Manhattan’s Financial District, and work from home.
Salary Range: $71,50 - $82,000
Our target start date is July 8, 2024. Special consideration will be given to candidates who apply by June June 17, 2024. This position will remain open until filled.
ABOUT US
The Urban Assembly (UA) is a non-profit that promotes social and economic mobility by innovating in public education, both in its 22 New York City schools and in the solutions it offers to school districts nationwide. The Urban Assembly founded more than 20 small, career-themed high schools in New York City since 1997, pioneering career-connected education. Its school design and support enabled the Urban Assembly to develop high-impact learning solutions for schools and districts nationwide.
Under the mission of advancing students’ social and economic mobility by improving public education, the Urban Assembly partners with schools and districts to design and scale solutions that improve social-emotional learning, post-secondary readiness and success, and instructional quality. ABOUT THE JOB
The Institutional Giving Manager reports to the Director of Advancement and Communications and is a member of the Advancement and Communications Team (comprising three passionate members).
Role Overview:
The Institutional Giving Manager is a key player on the Advancement team, dedicated to boosting revenue through high-quality written materials that highlight our work. The Institutional Giving Manager is a pivotal role that requires a proactive, committed individual passionate about public education and advancing the mission of the Urban Assembly. This role involves enhancing internal and external processes for tracking, communicating, and leveraging grants and funding. The ideal candidate excels in relationship-building, is highly organized, an adept project manager, and is passionate and knowledgeable about public education. This position requires an agile individual who can problem-solve and multitask effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Grant Writing, Reporting, and Management
Write grant proposals and reports; manage submissions to foundation and corporate partners.
Monitor proposal and report deadlines; maintain internal tracking systems.
Create cross-departmental information management systems and processes for streamlined proposal writing and reporting.
Donation Tracking, Management, and Reporting:
Oversee donation administration from start to finish.
Manage donation logging and reporting in Salesforce, maintaining accurate records.
Prepare acknowledgement letters for donors.
Generate revenue reports for the Director of Advancement and Communications.
Prospect Research
Research potential foundation, corporate, and individual donors to support the Urban Assembly.
Stay abreast of trends in philanthropy by following and reading blogs, newsletters, etc.
Team Support
Assist the Advancement team in managing cultivation and fundraising events, including an annual gala.
Collaborate with the team to create content for donor and community e-newsletters and communications.
Prepare funder briefs, develop agendas, and take notes at cross-team and funder meetings.
Additional Responsibilities:
Engage in special projects and other duties as assigned.
Embed principles of equity, inclusion, and belonging in all work, integrating these values into program development, policy application, and organizational practices.
Demonstrate a commitment to the mission of the Urban Assembly.
Collaborate respectfully to resolve obstacles and conflicts.
The key competencies of an Urban Assembly staff member include: Problem-Solving, Collaboration, Communication and Listening, Priority-setting and Time Management, Position Expertise, Professionalism, Commitment to Growth and Community
Minimum Qualifications:
Strong project management skills
Fluency with using data to summarize impact and write compelling narratives
Excellent grammar and written communication skills; experience writing grant proposals and reports
Data management and/or Excel skills
A proactive approach to managing complex cross-team initiatives
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
5 years of experience in education or nonprofit fundraising
Proficiency in Salesforce or other CRM
Knowledge of the NYC public education landscape
Experience working with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms)
Experience working with Canva or similar design software
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
This is a full-time, exempt position with a salary of $71,50 - $82,000. The UA also offers an excellent benefits package, including employer-funded healthcare, transit benefits, financial support for professional development, and generous vacation time.
